AURIELA’S POV
I blink hard, trying to confirm if I’m seeing correctly.
My gaze is trained on the bottom of the stall, my eyes widening with each second that passes. At first, it was two human legs, and before my eyes, the bones shift, a terrible sound of several bones snapping fills the air, and the next thing I see is four legs, no, not legs, these are paws, with sharp claws protruding out of them.
They are huge, triple the size of the largest dog I’ve ever seen. The sheer size seems to occupy the entire stall, and they are covered with a thick layer of dusty brown fur.
I gasp in horror at the sound of a low growl.
Alarmed, I run towards the door of the bathroom, keeping my eyes trained on the closed door of the stall. I pull the handle, and it doesn’t budge.
“Oh my God!” I yell, my movements getting frantic as I pull desperately at the door handle. I shoot another scared glance at the stall, and then, with a deep breath, I move a few steps away from the door to gain momentum, and then I hurl myself, throwing the entire force of my body on the door, in an attempt to break it down.
Sparks fly behind my eyes as pain floods my right arm. The pins holding my hair drops as the updo I styled my hair in comes undone. I cradle my hurt arm in the other, my legs shaky as I pull myself back on my feet.
Another growl comes from inside the stall, this time, louder than before. I have no idea what monstrosity is in there, but I sure as hell don’t want to wait around and find out.
I brace my body again to hit the door, then I hear a loud bang behind.
I turn around, very slowly. I’m too scared to breathe as I try to hear something besides the loud sound of my pulse. The door of the stall is broken into pieces, and standing in front of it with saliva dripping from a long, extended tongue is a creature that looks like something out of one's worst nightmare. It looks like a wolf, but bigger than any animal I have ever seen. It is covered in thick brown fur, patched and unkept, with large, pointed canines protruding from the ajar with its mouth.
I stand with my back to the door, frozen in fear as the creature’s gaze narrows on me. That is what terrifies me most, its eyes, huge, bloodshot and very red. They look deranged, predatory, hungry, and they are trained on me.
It stalks closer, and my hands shake and bang on the door even harder, tears streaming down my face. But nothing happens.
“How can’t anyone here what’s going on in here for f**k sake.” I cry out.
The creature is close now, its huge body looming over me. It snarls in my face and yellow teeth are the only thing I can see. I feel its hot breath accompanied by the smell of decay all over my face. I stagger backwards to the corner of the bathroom, and it follows, blocking me in.
Is this how I die?
I shut my eyes as more tears fell, several moments of my life flashing behind my mind’s eye as I waited for the blow. But it never comes.
The next few minutes happen like a scene from a movie as the bathroom door bursts open, and three huge men storm in. My chest almost burst open with relief as they all attack the creature at the same time. My eyes follow the struggle, wincing with every snarl and broken mirror. I should probably run out of here, but my legs are too weak to move.
I meet the eyes of one of the three men, and in the middle of it all, time crawls to a stop. His nostrils flare, and dark green eyes bore into mine with an intensity that makes me stop breathing. I feel like I’m being transported into the heart of sss. It’s almost like my body responds to him just by looking at me. His eyes darken, and the green completely disappears, but I don’t look away.
I let out a scream when a giant paw rushes towards his face, claws extended, but he almost looks like he had been expecting it. The contents of my stomach threaten to come up my throat, my eyes widening in horror when he pulls out the throat of the monster with his bare hands. I shuffle closer to the wall, but it is of no use; deep red blood splashes across my dress, a few drops landing on my face.
The monster falls to the ground and right there, before my eyes, and it…it turns to a man.
“What…how.” The question gets stuck in my throat, and my body becomes as heavy as stone. I don’t think I can take it anymore.
My eyes roll to the back of my head, and the last thing I see before the world goes black are those green eyes staring down at me, with a face covered in blood.
