Chapter Six
Sally was more than beautiful. She was absolutely stunning, yet there was an element of sadness that seemed to wash through her. She looked pleased enough, but when he actually studied her, there was a little pull to her forehead, a tension that didn’t fit with a woman who had new hair and clothes and looked just like she did.
‘What’s the matter, Sally?’ He shouldn’t have asked such a personal question in front of everyone, but it slipped out. He didn’t want her to be unhappy. He wanted her to be happy. He wanted to see her smile. Be confident.
