Teamwork

Josey woke up refreshed and ready to work. The night before, Shion had applied a facial mask and cooling gel to her face. She needed to not look like she had been crying 4 days straight. She even thought about applying a little makeup to cover up the dark spots. Last night was also the first time she had seen Shion emotional. Even though she could tell she was sad, she never showed it in front of her queen. She told Josey that the vision had caused a rising fear among the vampires. A fear that they would not only lose their queen but their king, to madness.  That thought was very understandable. It wouldn’t have been the first time Cofer had lost his mind over her. Josey had come to the conclusion that she was just another curse placed on Cofer. The moment his life was steady, she was introduced to it. Shion handed Josey her messenger and like normal, bidded her a beautiful day. She made her way through the portal and out their bedroom door where she handed her bag to Adiv. She couldn’t wait to get to the library and prepare to meet her new team. —- Valin sat at his desk anxiously watching the clock. He felt more on edge than usual. He had gone a whole week without feeling despair after climaxing. He should’ve been happy. He had chosen to discard the love that was holding him back. There was no way he would be able to remember who or what was missing from his life, so why hold on to it. Now instead of severe depression, he felt impending doom looming about him like he needed to watch his back. Relieving himself of the burden of love was proving to be intense. The night he was with Laila, he wanted to wrap his fingers around her neck while he pressed him hard and deep into her. As a result he ended up slapping her bottom, he could still remember the shocked look on her face. It was beautiful. He had never done anything like that before. It felt dangerous and really naughty. When he closed his eyes to continue enjoying her body, thoughts of biting her and ripping at her flush flooded his mind. But it didn’t bother him the least bit, that bothered him. Afterwards, the lingering sensations caused him to roll back on top of her. He wanted more. He ravaged her body throughout the night almost nonstop. He didn’t like the face she made when he rolled over to sleep. He knew she was expecting him to hold her, cuddle with her. But he didn’t want to. He wanted to take his new found s****l urges and enjoy them as they were, uncorrupted by the neediness of love. When he arrived to see Dsa, he wasn’t even sure why he needed to touch her. She was already pregnant. Having s*x with her was pointless. Zelah on the other hand, he made a game out of their time. A game to see if he could eventually make her purr or say his name. He was going to take full advantage of new found s****l appetite. He checked the clock again then made his way to the library. He wanted to be there when the team arrived so that he could formally introduce everyone. It had been a week since he had seen her. [Maybe that’s why I am nervous?]  When he arrived at the library, the twins bowed to him and announced him. Queen Sueli was on the second floor pulling maps. “May I assist you?” Valin asked her. Josey nodded. When Valin approached her he couldn’t help but take a deep breath. She smelled so sweet.  Before she could notice him, he worked himself out of his trance. “What are we looking for?” muttered Valin. Josey handed him a list of maps that she wanted to review with the new team. They looked around collecting the items on the list. They moved in sync with each other neither getting in each other's way in the close confined space.  Valin got to the last item on the list. He reached up to grab it but what he felt could only be described as one the softest warmest things ever. It felt like silk. Even though he knew it wasn’t a map, he was reluctant to let it go. “Valin?” whispered Josey. He gathered her hand in his and stared into her eyes. Then quickly released her hand. “I’m sorry.” Valin reached back up, grabbed the map and set it on his stack of papers.  “My queen, you have visitors.” Adiv interrupted their awkward moment. Josey slowly nodded while still staring at Valin. She was sure Sueli had fainted. “Come in guys.” Valin said excitedly while quickly turning away from Josey. She pulled her hand into her chest and then smelled it.  Valin continued down the stairs to the first floor, he was still not use to seeing Josey move behind him but not hear any footsteps.  “Take a seat everyone. Do not sit in the queen's seat” Valin motioned his hand towards the table. Josey came and stood by his side. He looked at Josey and smiled. “Welcome everyone. Thank you for being a part of this project. Let's start with introductions. You first.” Valin pointed towards a blonde-haired male with a serious look on his face. “Hi I'm Fedri. Hardware engineer.” “Tinod! But my friends call me Tin. I will be working on dimensional casting.” “Maximum, Max or whatever. Software engineer.” “Alexandar. I go by Xandar. Hardware engineer.” “It is nice to meet you all. I go by many names but you may call me Queen Sueli.” Josey looked around then continued, “I have 2 rules. Following these rules will keep you in 1 piece and this project moving forward. Rule #1: Don’t touch my hair. Rule #2: You only call me Your majesty or Queen Sueli. Do not skip the formalities. The men outside in the hall are my bodyguards, and they have no qualms about removing your hands or souls from your bodies. Do I make myself clear? The men nodded in unison. “Well it is nice to meet you all. Let’s work hard!” she enthusiastically concluded her speech. Valin watched on as the team's faces darkened. He wanted to tell them that everything would be okay. That she was a good person, if you could get past the assassins that she kept as bodyguards. Valin chuckled quietly. Valin turned to ask Josey if she wanted him to bring the maps down but the maps were already placed neatly next to a digital white board. Adiv and Liv had come in and positioned a digital white board and brought down the maps while they were doing introductions. Valin looked around in astonishment. [Maybe they should be terrified?] This wasn’t the first time they moved so silently that it made the hair stand up on his arms. Josey went over the structure of the portals and the locations she had deemed the most critical to the least. Her team seemed to have lost their fear and regained their excitement for the project at hand.  Valin watched Josey move. Everything she said seemed melodic. Every movement she made seemed hypnotic. The team was also entranced by her. He couldn’t believe he couldn’t find one woman that was fit for this job. He had his reservations about leaving the Queen of Nethersigh alone with a group of men. “Tinod is as close to a woman as I could get.” thought Valin. Tinod was a petite gay man. He didn’t wear dresses or anything but his glitter lip gloss and constant flirting with men gave it away. The thought made Valin chuckle. “Is there something funny, King Valin?” Josey interrupted his thoughts. “King Valin? I must’ve irritated her.” He whispered to himself.  “No, Queen Sueli. Please continue.”  At that moment it dawned on him that Queen Sueli almost always called him Valin. Not ‘your majesty’ or ‘King Valin’ and not once did he think to correct her. In fact, it felt right.  “King Valin!” urged Fedri after calling him a couple of times. “Would you like a copy of the travel schedule?” Valin reached out and took the paper from him. Josey was very thorough. She had mapped out the work that would be completed the week she was out. She also planned a trip to the western edges of Wilshana.  “Queen Sueli, I have a concern.” Valin stated. “About what?” “The western edges of Wilshana are unstable and filled with abnormal swamp creatures.” “Are there people who live in those swamps?” “Yes but..” “If there are people there we need a device there, regardless of the location.” “While you are fully protected. I am worried about the safety of the team. The ground literally shifts. Most of these people live in houses with floatation devices under them. They choose to live in these unpredictable swamp lands.” “This schedule is not up for debate. If I think that the team will be in danger, I will go alone.” Valin took a deep breath. He had to remind himself that the Queen has her protectors and she was stubborn. He backed down. He couldn’t believe someone with such small hands and silky skin was so strong minded. [So soft.]
