After Josey spent several hours of eating and nursing Amasai, Cofer finally made his appearance. When he walked in Josey was rocking Amasai back and forward in her arms. He leaned in and kissed Josey then gently rubbed Amasai’s belly.
“For a moment I thought the conjurers were wrong. Both twins belonged to Valin. Then one night I saw it. In the complete darkness of our room. He had opened his eyes and little spots of orange light flickered in the air.” Josey continued to smile at her self-conscious husband.
“Then in the same breath, I thought even if he was Valin’s baby I would still love him like he was my own.” She kissed his cheek while Amasai dozed off and held his finger.
