The farmhouse was eerily quiet, with only a few lights still flickering as Marcus and Gabby approached it under the cover of night. As they reached the single window leading into the guest bedroom, both men leaned against the side of the house, preparing to attempt a break-in through the window. This wasn't their first time engaging in such activities, and it seemed it wouldn't be their last. With a silent nod towards the window, Gabby indicated for Marcus to check if it was locked. Holstering his gun, Marcus carefully tugged at the window, surprised to find it moved easily. He slid it open and peered inside, expecting to see Emerald alone in her room.
