5 Ryell stood among the students and listened to Fourth Archmage Varessa’s speech. Behind her, a demon watched the gathered with a mixture of curiosity and caution, and whenever Ryell glanced at the winged creature, his vision blurred, and he had to fight the urge to unsheathe his sword and charge the monster before it could destroy this city just like its brethren destroyed his home. If he could, he’d shout at the people around him to wake up, to flee or to stand up to an uneven fight, because trusting a demon was a path to certain death.
