Atissa stood motionless, fighting her own terror-struck body, so that not a slightest reaction would betray the truth. Not only her barrier was gone. The faint connection to magic she’d felt since she claimed the power coming from the imprisoned demons had disappeared too. It must have been Myrkan who, unable to take his anger out on her, took away the one thing that gave her confidence. The three demons trapped in the stones under the mansion were likely no more. Come to think of that, if Myrkan went after them, her newfound home also was no more.
