Chapter 5; Epistle one

605 Words
I quickly entered the ballroom excited to finally meet my mate, when suddenly something caught my eye, it was Rosalind. I couldn't help but mentally facepalm. The girl was nothing but trouble. She always had to create a fuss in every one of these events, my sister stood in front of Rosalind, protecting whoever it was Rosalind had chosen as her victim. Those two never got along. I didn't have time to wonder who her unlucky victim was, I just wanted to focus my sense of smell and find her, but when I caught her scent again it wasn't as pleasant as before, she was hurt and it was coming from the direction of where Rosalind was causing a commotion. A nasty thought passed through my head— could she be the one Rosalind attacked?—and Klaus let out a loud menacing growl; It was the alpha king's roar. Everyone in the ballroom turned towards me and bowed in reverence, but I couldn't care less about anything else as Briella turned slightly, giving me access to her, my wolf howled on excitement, and as she weakly looked up, my eyes locked with her beautiful emerald green eyes that matched her dress I growled once again, this time declaring her as mine " MINE." It was all I needed to say for everyone to understand, not that I'd needed to explain myself to anyone. I swiftly moved through the room, through the now parted path the guests had instinctively opened up for me, towards my mate, catching her just as she fell. Klaus was howling in my head for both joy and regret, joy at finally finding our mate and regret at being to late to protect her. I took in her pale face, and the sweat beads on her forehead, and a few strands of her beautiful blonde hair, sticking to it. She was an omega, but she was perfect too perfect, too perfect to be lying here unconscious. I looked up, my eyes scanning through the faces of everyone in the crowd before they finally settled on Rosalind. She looked shocked, but unrepentant. If anything, she looked at my mate with disgust, as if she wanted to snap her neck. She was the daughter of a council elder, she strutted around like she owned the place, snapping at servants, injuring omegas, but I overlooked it all, I realize now that that was a mistake. She'd always assumed that she'd be my mate. Even when she came of age and wasn't, she still felt she would make the perfect Luna queen. She assumed that if I didn't find a mate then I'd pick her, but in reality, I would never pick someone as vain as her. She was just a year older than Briella so I just treated her like a little sister, paying off the maids she injured, transferring the maids she'd fired to other packs, I'd treated her differently because of her family, whom my beta was a part of, but she assumed it was because I'd taken a liking to her. I usually ignored her advances, giving her leverage to.do whatever she wanted, but I realized now that that was a mistake, my leverage had given his chance to hurt my mate. I was going to fix it all now. " Rosalind Knight, from this moment going forward, you are banned from stepping your foot into this palace, till further notice, for causing multiple unrest and injury to numerous pack members and your privileges as a noble are hereby stripped off until you reflect on the severity of your actions.
