Chapter four:The day I met Linda

SANDRA'S POV. I almost overslept when my alarm woke me up. I was glad I set the alarm before going to bed. I had to jog before preparing for work. This has been my routine ever since I was in high school. I quickly took out my sleepwear and put on my joggers and top, then headed off to jog so I wouldn't be late for work, as it was actually my first day on the job. I was already down the stairs, running down to the estate gate with my earphones and sneakers when I felt someone behind me. I was scared and tense. I slowly stopped and turned to know who it was. Then, I beheld beauty. She was indeed an angel in human form. She greeted me as soon as I was about to greet and introduce myself. “My name is Linda. I've not seen your face in this neighborhood before. It seems you're new here.” She asked calmly. “My name is Sandra. I just moved in yesterday, and I stay in block G,” I said while running because I was almost late and had to catch up before I went to work late. “Nice meeting you. I stay in block F. Talk to you later.” I arrived at work by 7:30am and saw a lot of work waiting for me. There were files scattered here and there, and I had to kneel to properly arrange every single thing in the office. As I was arranging the office, I started thinking about the last journalist. She must have been the one to leave this pile of stuff for me to continue from where she stopped. I was still contemplating a lot of things while still doing my work when the door suddenly creaked open. A man in his late forties walked in without saying a word. Because I was also busy, I didn't say anything to you. For seconds, there was this silence between us. I quickly turned to take a proper look at this man and I found out he was undressing me with his eyes. “Please, what do you want?” I asked, breaking the silence. “I'm Mr. Greatness. I'll get to work closely with you. I also brought some files that also needed to be attended to.” Seeing that I was not paying attention to what he was doing, he dropped the file on my table and left. The day flew by very fast, and before I knew it, I was already heading to my house in my Lamborghini Gallardo that my father gifted me on my 28th birthday. Immediately I got home, I parked my car and took the elevator to the fifth floor. I got in, had some rest, then sailed Sophia's number. It rang three times without her picking up. She picked the fourth ring. “Sophia, how are you doing? How's the shopping and the preparation of your wedding?” She took a deep breath over the phone before she continued. “Sandra, you're just calling now. That's not nice at all. I'm not happy with you.” “Please, don't say that. I just resumed work today and am just coming back.” I said checking my time. “Oh…how was your first day at work?” “It was fine. I got to meet new faces and got a friend today.” “Oh …You've already replaced me without me being aware. But I'm happy you got a new friend so that you won't be feeling that bored since I'm not around.” “Ah… Sophia you don't have to say that. You know you're my best friend in the world and I can't trade you for any.” I teased her. I heard my friend laughing over the phone. I love it when she laughs rather than when she grumbles. “Her name is Linda and she's my neighbor.” Just then, I heard a knock on my door. I ignored it but it came again and again. “Girlie, somebody is at the door. I'll talk to you later. “ I ended and went straight to the door. I opened it and it was Linda. Actually, I was not expecting anyone, including her. I didn't want her to feel bad so I hid my expression. I was surprised she picked up the sign and reacted immediately. “I'm sorry if I interrupted what you were doing. It has not been long since I came back from work. I was bored so I decided to come over.” “It's fine. You're welcome. So what can I offer you?” I asked, gradually taking out my jewelry. “Anything” “Anything?” “Chocolate and juice. Also water.” She finally said. We started playing the truth or dare game. “Truth or dare,” Linda asked as she spun the bottle and it stood in front of me. “Truth”. Linda waited for a time before she asked me any questions as though she already had a perfect question but forgot. I was tense, I didn't really know what was going through her mind, coupled with the fact that it had been a long time since I played this particular game. That was when Sophia was still around. “How many times have you had s*x?” She immediately broke the silence and interrupted my thought. I was surprised at that type of question. “I've only had s*x once,” I replied, taking my eyes off her. Linda flinched as though she had been electrocuted. I was surprised at her reaction. “You mean all the life that you've only had s*x once?” She asked again, anxiety laced all over her face. I nodded slowly. She became so calm as though she had been poured very cold water. It was my turn to ask her my question and I adjusted myself very well. “Truth or dare” “Truth” she responded, her eyes still locked onto mine. Have you ever been in love with two men before?” She quickly bowed her head and then took them up again. “Yes, but I had to choose one” “But why did you ask me this question? Did anybody tell you anything about me?” I chuckled. “Not at all. You're a very beautiful woman and I know that a lot of men would be flocking around you.” She kept quiet without saying a word. “So about the two men, who did you choose? The one you love or the one who loves you? “The one I love,” Linda replied coldly. “Why? I thought it should be the one who loved you, not the one you love? Linda became very restless. “Please can I use the toilet “ “Sure.” I showed where the toilet was. As soon as she came out, her phone started ringing. “Sandra, I'll be leaving now. We'll see by tomorrow.” I followed her to the door. “Goodnight Linda.” “Good night Sandra.” I opened the door for her and she left.
