It was peaceful in the neighbourhood today. The chirping of birds hummed in the distance, and the sun cast soft, warm rays of light through the crispy breeze. I paused raking the leaves and squinted at the sky. I wasn’t sure what I was waiting for, but I waited. A small white dot appeared from afar and quietly floated towards me. It disappeared before hitting the ground. “Done,” Atlanta said, folding the bag of leaves. She stood and dusted her hands. We decided to rake the leaves on our lawns, and quite coincidentally, both of us were wearing brown wool sweaters to match the colour of late autumn. “Thanks,” I said.
