Odelia had an appointment with dad today, and if mom wasn’t home, I’d have dismissed her. Dad and Odelia were making no progress, and this was a little game they were playing to win over one another. I didn’t know what they were fighting to accomplish, but it was pointless.
I sat with mom in the living room while Odelia conversed with dad. I didn’t know how to solace her, and I contemplated on telling her everything: the Energy Gods, about Rick. All of it. But dragging her into this was the same as dragging her to hell. I didn't want to punish her like that.
Odelia returned with perfect timing. Mom wanted to say a few words to dad, so I didn’t tag along with her. They needed a moment, too, and it gave me the moment to chat with Odelia.
