Sky bolted into the forest with her head held high. The fire in her gut was so intense that she could taste it in her mouth. She’d been serving the queen and king her entire life, working to save her sisters, to make Ahe’ey safe. That was all she’d known, and it had cost her blood, her sweat and the tears that she’d never allowed herself to cry. There was no one worthier and more qualified to rule Ahe’ey. What had happened today had been a betrayal to her and to the women of Ahe’ey.
