" why didn't it hurt" the boy known as lil Jimmy thought to himself. when he had finally found the courage to open his eyes,he met the intruders cold dark ones.
the pistol had misfired leaving it totally unfunctional. the intruder chuckeld to himself. he then he told the boy "This must be ur lucky day." With that , the intruder left the premises.
It took everything in lil Jimmy not to freak out about the bloody scene he was now taking in with his own eyes. his whole family now lay sprawled on the floor in deaths grip ,their blood pooling together our d him on the bedroom floor.
Jimmy was a smart kid, and if he knew anything at all, it was that he needed to get the hell out of there, fast. But he had to survive so he decided to grab a few things first.
He went to his room, and out of his closet he retrieved a big duffel bag, which he in turn filled with some clothes and personnel items. he then went downstairs to the kitchen to grab some food. then he returned to his closet to get the other duffel bag he owned and bound back down the stairs to the secret door in the mantle.
a few years prior his father had shown him how to access the secret door. if one was to run his finger across one of the embedded stones of the facade, the whole mantle swung open, and revealed a passage way . once inside the mantle, he proceeded to make his way down the descent of stairs, which led to the secret vault. he located the keypad and entered the code which his father had shown him. he would always remember it because it was his birthday.
"this will one day all be urs" his father had told him.
it had nearly taken his breath away when he saw the wealth inside. it was stacked with money from the floor to the ceiling. seeing it again today still sent a shock through his body. it held more money then a person could probably spend in an entire lifetime.
he immediately went to work with the task of filling up the bag. but when he had done so he stupidly realized that he wasn't going to be able to carry the duffle bag because it was far too heavy. so he emptied out about half of it and found that it was much more manageable.
he returned the same way he came. after exiting the mantle he only had one more thing to do. he made his way over to his fathers den. when he entered the room he suddenly burst into tears when he saw his fathers empty chair. knowing that he would never see his father sitting there conducting some kind of business brought on heavy sobs. the thought immediately brought fresh tears to his eyes which he couldn't wipe away fast enough. he moved to the desk and picked up the phone to dial 911. the line was immediately answered.
"911, whats your emergency?" the operator asked.
he disguised his voice and proceeded to tell the operator that he had heard gunshots at the address he provided them. He then placed the phone on top of the desk without hanging it up, and then he left the house that he had know all his life.
