Most girls would have spent their birthdays having fun with friends. But Elena, she is different from others. Today was Lavanya's birthday, but even today she was busy. She was wearing simple pajamas and her laptop on her lap. The blue light of the laptop reflecting on her face. She was completely engrossed in typing, scrolling, and searching for part-time jobs. She wanted to help her father with the family’s finances. Others don't think this in such a young age but she does. Not to become independent, but to help her father and walk by shoulder to shoulder with him. “Elena, can you come here? I need to talk to you about something important,” a voice from the room beside came, her father's . She set the laptop aside, walked to him, and asked, “Yes, Dad?” Her father gestured for her to sit beside him, and she did. “Today’s your birthday, and I want to make it special. So tonight we’re going to a nearby restaurant for dinner,” he said. “Really? That’s great! I was hoping we could go out. Thank you, Dad—you’re the best!” she replied, hugging him tightly. “Okay, okay,” he laughed. “Go get ready. We’ll leave at 8 p.m. Look—it’s already 7 p.m.,” he said, pointing at the clock. “You’re right. I’m going!” She stood up and hurried to her room to get ready. Lavanya slipped into her favorite red dress. It fit perfectly, accentuating her curvy hourglass figure. She applied light makeup as she always did, but for something special tonight, she chose dark red lipstick that made her look stunning. She let down her waist-length hair, which always drew admiring glances from other girls. When she was ready, she went to her father and asked, “Dad, how do I look?” He looked at her and smiled warmly. “You look beautiful—just like my little doll. Shall we go now?” he added. “Yes!” she said, slipping on red sandals that matched her dress perfectly. They left the house, got into the car, and drove to the restaurant. It was brightly lit and looked elegant. As they entered, a guard greeted them politely. They were led to a quiet table with only two chairs—no outsiders nearby. A waiter soon approached and handed them each a menu. “What would you like?” Mr. Ashish asked, passing one menu to Lavanya. She took it with a smile and flipped through the pages, looking for something delicious yet affordable. While they were deciding what to order, a stylish young man walked past their table. He was holding an open water bottle in one hand. As he passed Mr. Ashish, the bottle slipped and the entire contents splashed over Mr. Ashish’s head. Startled, Mr. Ashish stood up and said, “Hey, please walk more carefully.” Those simple words were enough to ignite the arrogant boy’s temper. He grabbed Mr. Ashish’s collar and snarled, “Oh, you poor bastard think you can tell me how to walk? How to behave?” Mr. Ashish stayed calm and replied, trying to defuse the situation, “I’m not complaining, really. It’s fine—mistakes happen. I’m just saying be more careful next time, because you—” He was cut off by a sudden slap from the boy. “Wow, a filthy beggar like you is going to teach me manners?” the boy said arrogantly. That crossed the line. Lavanya shot up from her chair and shoved the boy so hard that he stumbled and fell to the floor.
