The air felt heavier tonight. Kaya couldn’t explain it, but there was a gnawing feeling at the pit of her stomach, a tight coil of unease that wouldn’t unravel no matter how hard she tried to shake it off. She paced the room, her mind flicking between her business at KT Jewels and her unborn child, who had become her anchor of hope in the darkness surrounding her life.
