What a Broken Car Leads to

687 Words
It was a dark, stormy night. Tyler and Craig were on their way to a party but their car broke down. Tyler as usual was agitated: "Nice going, Craig! Real good!", he spat out angrily. He was having a rough day and thought the party might cheer him up but fate, as usual, played a cruel joke on him. The particular area they were in used to be a mining site, however it got shut because of some rumors about supernatural events happening. "At least we have this tool box.", Craig said cheerfully getting the box out of the trunk. The only items that came out of the box were two candy bars, a torch and an old moth. Tyler sighed as he took one of the candy bars while Craig freaked out by the moth. After looking around for a bit, eventually finding themselves in front of a sealed off mine shaft. it had a "Do NOT Enter" sign in front of it and planks of wood blocking the entrance. "Lets try this", Craig mumbled as he started pulling apart the wood. "Maybe we can find a toolbox inside or maybe even a MECHANIC!", Tyler sarcastically said. He had no better idea so he just started helping the other. After a matter of minutes, they were inside the dark mine-shaft. The torch came to its function to dimly light up the path. The storm outside wasn't helping at all, every sound of wind blowing or thunder echoed ten times louder inside, scaring the boys. They kept on walking for quite a while, encountering bats and tripping over abandoned shovels. They heard a strange sound, after listening closely it became apparent that it was someone singing, off-key. "Who can that be?", Tyler whispered, it was useless because the whisper echoed. Craig opened his mouth to answer but someone else spoke before him, "Who's out there?!", the voice demanded. they both looked at each other and Craig shone the flashlight ahead of them. They saw a guy, roughly the same age as them, running towards them. Having the living lights scared out of them, both of them started running towards the opposite direction. Craig suddenly tripped and fell over. Tyler was quick to react and picked him up but the mystery man was catching up fast. He nearly caught Craig but Tyler pushed over an old can full of rocks. Mr. Mystery didn't see them and fell himself, giving ample time for the other two to get out of the exit. Since the car would't start, the only option coming to them was to start barricading the entrance like it was before. "Was that a troll or hobo living in there?", Craig yelled. "I don't know!", was the reply. They were almost done with closing the entrance but the troll was already there. He grabbed a shovel and pounded on the wood making each one fall to the ground. This was enough hint for Tyler and Craig to make a run for it. Unfortunately, the rain made the ground muddy and slippery so they fell. The man was in front of them now, panting. They got a good look of him now, not really because he was wearing a mask, covering half his face. "Wha- What are you going to do to us?", Craig stuttered. " Will you stuff us and make us your prized trophies?", Tyler asked. Craig and the man both looked at him for a solid thirty seconds and simultaneously said "what?". Tyler got slightly offended and said, "You know because your a troll that lives in an abandoned mine-shaft". The man in return said, "Dude, are you high right now?", he paused to see two confused faces, "I was just walking here with my friends when they pulled a prank on me and locked me in there for the night. Regaining their composure there was a formal introduction. The guy was actually quite cool and Tyler invited him to the party they were going to. The man helped them by fixing their car and they all drove away from that place, never looking back.
