I used to think school was just about lectures and books.
I was wrong.
School is mostly about people.
And people will either make your life easier… or heavier.
I started noticing patterns.
Some students always had notes.
Some always had answers.
Some always acted like nothing was difficult.
But when you looked closer, everyone had their own struggle.
They just didn’t show it the same way.
I met different types of people.
There were the loud ones who knew everyone.
The quiet ones who knew everything.
The ones who smiled with you but competed with you silently.
And the ones who only appeared when there was something to benefit from.
At first, I trusted easily.
That didn’t last long.
Group work showed me everything I needed to know.
Some people disappeared completely.
Some contributed at the last minute.
Some argued more than they worked.
And somehow, the responsibility always came back to the few people who actually cared.
I learned quickly:
In school, effort is not always shared equally.
But results will still be judged equally.
Outside class, friendships also formed.
Some felt real.
Some felt temporary.
Some felt like convenience disguised as connection.
I stopped assuming too much from people.
Not because I became bitter…
But because school teaches you to observe more than you speak.
And yet, in the middle of all that, there were small moments.
Laughing after lectures.
Helping someone understand a topic.
Sharing notes with someone who actually appreciated it.
Those moments didn’t fix everything…
But they made school feel less heavy.
