He couldn’t wait to see her, his heart fluttered thinking about her. He dreaded seeing her too. They hadn’t talked about him reading her journal. She had gone into heat before they could talk. He didn’t want to but he knew they needed to. The hike took forever, and he was growing impatient. They entered the cave and kept making their way down. Before they got to the bottom, her brother stopped her. “You sure you can control yourself if she’s still in heat. I’d hate to have to kill my best friend” he said seriously. “I’m good, you don’t ask anything stupid,” he said with a scary look on his face. Her brother nodded; he knew what he meant. The things they talked about in the car. It was still racing in his mind, but he managed to push it away before they reached her. She was cuddled up on the bed with a book. “Hey, Lil sis” his head popped up. “Big brother” she ran up and hugged him. “You all good?” He asked unsure. “Yea I’m fine, it stopped this morning”. She spoke. Her brother hugged her again. She seemed fine. “How did you know to come early? I was dying of boredom in here,” she asked. He chuckled. “Gabriel” rolling his eyes. “Oh I brought something,” he said playfully. “What’s?” She said excitedly. “It better not be a bunny’s foot again,” she said playfully. Her brother laughed hard shaking his head no. Out popped Gabriel, “Gabriel” she yelled as she jumped into his arms. He wrapped his arms around her, and she wrapped her legs around him. He was trying to hold her up without touching her butt. He was nervously moving his hands trying to figure out where to hold hers He decided on her lower thigh was safe. Her brother nodded in approval. “Hey there,” he said. She pulled her head back and looked at him. She smiled and kissed him. She planted a kiss right on his lips. He freaked out and dropped her. She landed on her feet. “I’m so sorry. I don’t know what came over me,” she said blushing, not looking up at him. His lips were still Tingling. She grabbed her stuff and started running out of the cave. “Last one to the car is a rotten apple” as she started running. “You dropped my sister,” her brother said jokingly. “She kissed me, I freaked out,” he said with his beet-red cheeks. Her brother patted him on the back and started running after her. “Guess your gonna be a rotten apple, Gabriel” he yelled. Gabriel ran after him, pushing him out of the way to beat his friend. They kept passing each other, pushing and shoving each other to the car. They made it to the car neck in neck, both falling on the car. “Where’s your sister?” Gabriel asked. “Did we pass her?” Her brother asked. They looked around nervously, they lost her. She wasn't anywhere in sight. They were about to go running into the woods to find her when there was a knock on the Window. They both jumped back and screamed. They jumped into each other, wrapping their arms around each other. She wishes she had a phone so she could take a picture. She opened the car door “you're both rotten apples I guess” she joked. They let go of each other and tried to play it cool. “Sis, I almost peed my pants,” he said laughing. They climbed into the car. She was in the back seat. Gabriel and her brother are in the front. The boys joked around for a while. She stared out the window smiling. “You ok, sis,” her brother asked. She nodded her head, “I like listening to you too” she said smiling. “Are you hungry?” Gabriel asked. “I brought sour worms” hanging them in front of her. “I’m not allowed” but she stopped herself and grabbed the bag. She started munching them down. “Don’t eat too many” Gabriel reminded her. Her brother smacked him hard in the chest. “She’s skin and bones dude,” he said annoyed. “It’s not like that dude” he argued back. A few minutes later she threw the bag back in the front. Gabriel looked back; she was turning green. “Pull the car over” and her brother instantly obliged. She fell out and started puking. Gabriel ran out and pulled back her hair. “It’s ok,” he said rubbing her back. Her brother brought her a tissue and she cleaned herself up. “You ok, sis?” She smiled. “I just ate too much” ‘she said embarrassed. “Ate too much, you ate like 4,” he said. Gabriel hit him hard in the chest, knocking the air out of him. “Let it go” he whispered. Her brother had no idea what was going on, but he wasn’t going to push it. She looked awful. She laid out in the back and went to sleep. Gabriel slid his hand into the backseat and held her hand. When he was sure she was completely out, he looked at her brother. “If she eats too much at once, she throws up,” he said seriously. “Should we take her to the dr? Maybe it’s a stomach bug” he said concerned. Gabriel shook his head, “it’s not a bug”. He said looking in the back, making sure she was still asleep. “She was starved for a long time; she can’t handle much for at one time. It will take time but will get her health again”. He said gently, looking back at her still sleeping. “Starved,” her brother said. “Another time” motioning to her in the back. Her brother nodded in agreement. “When you gonna get the bracelets off?” He whispered. Gabriel sighed loud, “we still haven’t talked about what I did,” he said full of sadness. “When she was in Heat? from that kiss she didn’t mind,” he said feeling weird talking about his sister that way. “Not that. I invaded her privacy when I read her journal. We didn’t get to talk about it before she went into heat and everything went crazy,” he said feeling guilty. “You didn’t apologize?” He asked. He cleared his throat I said “I’m sorry I read your thoughts, but I don’t regret it” before everything happened. “Dude, I don’t want to be a fly on the wall with that conversation”. He said being serious. “I invaded her privacy; it was not ok, but it was the only way to get to know her. I thought it was gonna be flower and rainbows with a few dark spots. It was a horror novel,” he said. “I was not prepared but I don’t regret it. How do I say I’m sorry, but I’d do it again?” He said seriously. Her brother just shrugged “make sure she doesn’t take off the bracelets when you’re talking. You’re a dead man if she does”. He said half-joking. “I’ll make it up to her, Somehow,” he said. They were quiet for a while before one of their favorite songs came on. They bellowed out the song on the top of their lungs. They had forgotten she was sleeping in the back, but she just busted into the song as a backup. Her brother swerved, jumping out of his skin. “You scared the crap out of me” her brother screamed. She laughed at the top of her lungs and started snorting. “Did you just snort?” Gabriel asked as he started laughing. She gave him a pouty face and all he wanted to do was kiss her. It took every ounce of control not to jump in the backseat. She stuck her tongue out at him “that’s it” he said as he jumped in the back seat. He started tickling her and she could barely catch her breath through the laughter. She grabbed his hands finally, “I have to pee” she said. “Can’t you wait, we’re almost home” her brother called out. “No” she whined crossing her legs. “No peeing in my car,” he said meanly which she flinched at. Gabriel shot a deadly look at her brother. In an instant he realized he scared her, “if you pee in my car, I’m going to tickle you till I make you pee again. He said jokingly and Gabriel nodded in approval. She giggled and did a little pee-pee dance. “I’ll find a bathroom” he said, “just pull over” she said. “No, I’ll find you a bathroom. You're not peeing in the woods alone” he said. “It’s the middle of the night, nothing is open. I’ll be fine” she whined. He pulled over and she jumped out running for the woods. Once she was out of sight, Gabriel looked at his friend. “Do you think your dad would blow a gasket if we stayed in my old room?” He asked. “He let you stay in a dungeon together, I’d imagine he’d prefer she sleep in a bed,” he said in a questioning tone. “I meant out of the dungeon, not exactly something I’ve done since I went in there,” he said seriously. “My dad didn’t put you in there, you went in there on your own,” he said. “True, it was the only option,” he said looking out the window waiting for her to come back. “I don’t think it’s a problem with the old man. If you think you’ll be fine not to kill anyone I think he’d be happy. I'm not so sure my sisters gonna go for it. She put herself in the dungeon” he said. “I think she’ll be fine. If I can come out of the dungeon so can she. It’s not good for her, she’s too thin and it’s damp.” He said seriously. She started making her way to the car. “Thank you, your seats still clean big brother” she said playfully. Gabriel wrapped his arm around her, “you hungry yet?” He asked. She nodded, “they both cheered” she blushed. “Really?” She spoke. “I'm starving” they both said.
