Chapter 29Iwas approaching the village at just about sunset and thinking of Maria. I ended up checking out of the rented apartment and staying with Maria for the extra days. I have ten days to get the house in shape, and the arrangements all set for the baptism. I was feeling good about my relationship with Maria. I somehow felt differently about Cindy. I haven’t thought about her, in the same way, the last few days. I would be damned if I would let a woman, I wasn’t with have control of my life.
I walked into the house and started for the bar; I haven’t had a martini in weeks. Then I stopped and thought, “No drinking until after the baptism. You need to be clear in your thinking to sort out your emotions.”
