Chapter 40I woke up and looked at my phone to see what time it was: 8:00 a.m. I never sleep this late. I also had a text from Maria. “Arrived back home last night, text me back when you get this.” I texted back, “I am in Florence and just woke up; do you want to do something together today?” “How about you come by for a coffee and a small bite of something, and we can discuss it.” I looked at the time on my phone and texted back, “Great; be there by 9:30.” I checked out of the hotel and drove over to Maria’s apartment house. I felt confident I was not being followed; it would take them a while to regroup and figure out where in Italy I am.
