Ila’s POV “Mother, whatever crazy idea you are cooking up in your brain, let it go. Ila is not doing the trials, and I will do whatever it takes to stop all of it.” Kane says. There was no room in his words to change his mind. The room fell silent. The loudest sound was my thoughts. He hadn’t moved from whatever corner he had put himself in for quite some time. After his fit of rage, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen between us. His outburst didn’t scare me, just worried me. He promised me he wouldn’t hurt me anymore, but ignoring my feelings or not hearing me is just as painful as a rejection. Don’t my feelings and thoughts count for anything? Did they not matter? I was the one who was facing the trials. Shouldn’t I decide? ‘It’s because we are blind.’ Juniper whispers softly.
