I pace back and forth in my living room, waiting for any news about Kane and the Elders. Ringing my hands, I can’t stop the worry I’m feeling. Why did Kane bring up charges against the Luna and Alpha? Why didn’t he tell me? I wince as a sharp pain shoots up my leg when my foot connects with the couch leg. After flopping down on the soft cushion, I rub my toes, trying to ease the pain.
“Did someone move the couch?” I ask, making Maxwel chuckle. I knew how stupid it sounded as soon as I said it, but my brain is so befuddled, I didn’t realize what I am doing right now.
