Kane’s POV
“What the hell are you on about?!” Although my hand remains clasped around his neck, I began to see clearly, the red vision of my wolf fading. I want to laugh, but Maxwell’s words about Ila were so close to triggering my wolf that I held back any emotion. The thought of his stupidity still amuses me, though. I have his life in my hands right now and he’s making jokes about packs that don’t exist.
Warren yawns again, reclining back and rocking back and forth in the chair with his eyes closed. “Alpha Kane, will you let go of my Alpha? I know he’s a dumb ass, but we kind of need him.” There is a boredom to his voice that surprises me. His nonchalant attitude towards the situation was so uncharacteristic of a beta.
