CHAPTER 27 I wake up in an empty bed. It’s early, but the sun is already streaming in through the gap between the curtain and the wall. In an old house, there are no right angles or level surfaces. Everything is a little off. With my pyjama bottoms still somewhere in the kitchen, I walk across the room in my top and panties to grab my bathrobe from the back of the door.
