CHAPTER 15 On Thursday morning when I’m leaving for work, Jeff promises to make an effort. He stands in the hall, asking if he can do anything to make my evening easier. “Well, you could prepare some drinks and snacks.” “What kind of a party is it? Ann Summers? Tupperware?” He stands there, his hands tucked inside his back pockets, his head tilted so that his hair falls across his face, looking adorable and clearly favouring one of the options. “It’s neither.
