EVAN'S POV
I watched her walk upstairs to her room. I heard and saw everything that transpired between her and Crystal.
For the first time in years, I felt that part of me I buried since I was a teenager reopened, that part that promised not to ever feel any emotion for any other person other than the woman I love.
I felt pity for Amora that moment she hugged Crystal, her emotions and everything she was feeling was bare in her eyes that instant.
My phone started ringing, effectively making me look another way other than the way she went.
“What is it?"
“Boss, I called to inform you that all the news concerning the misinformation that went viral this morning has been cleared. I'm sorry for not looking into this well.” My head of the PR team said.
I didn't even look at who was calling before I picked the phone. If I knew he was the one, I wouldn't have bothered to answer the call.
“Why telling me? Isn't that what I pay you for? You need some f*cking flowers from me for doing your work?”
I could hear him gulp from the other end of the phone.
“I thought you'd want to know.”
I hung up on him, hissing loudly. Today being Saturday, I thought it would go smoothly and I'd have some time for myself since the whole week has been really stressful.
"Would you mind having an evening snacks now sir?" I heard Crystal ask behind me.
“No." I answered in a sharp tone.
I turned to run up towards my room, taking the steps two at a time.
I took a long, comforting and cold shower, that's one of the basic things I need for my day to be a smooth one.
My phone started ringing again the moment I got out of the bathroom. I thought it was one of my workers again but I decided to check.
It was my mother, I swiped up to answer the call.
“Hey, Evans."Her bubbly tone came into the phone.
“Hi mom."
“How's my baby doing? I hope that girl isn't giving you any trouble? I saw the news this morning and she better thank her stars that happened to be untrue.” My mom's fascination with Thea definitely made her hate Amora already.
“I'm good, and we're good for now at least." I answered.
“Will you come have dinner with us this evening then? You can bring Amora with you too, she's somehow my daughter in law now, afterall.”
There is absolutely no way I'd take Amora along with her to have dinner with my family now, not yet. Her throat aside, it feels and sounds too personal to me.
“No, mom. We can't make it tonight. Raincheck.”
"Awww, why? Did you ask her already and she said she isn't coming? Pass the phone to her! I need to talk some sense into her.”
“Mom, you really need to calm down. She's not even here with me.”
“Why don't you want to come then? You c-" I cut her off before she could finish that sentence.
"Goodnight mom." And I hung up.
She's so pestering and can be really annoying that I wonder how my dad even copes with her.
But then again, they both compliment one another. I'd never cope with anyone who talks too much, they irritate me and I feel like taping their mouths most times.
‘But you coped with Thea really well.’ my conscience said to me.
Remembering those times when she would talk my ears off and all I could do was just watch her and listen to how her melodious voice brought a smile to my face.
The smile turned into a scowl soon enough, I really miss her.

“Has she come down for dinner?” I asked Crystal as I went downstairs for dinner. I've been in my room all evening just browsing the internet.
“No."
“Go call her downstairs then. She needs to eat so she can take her medications." I said.
“Medications? She can barely even swallow watery things." Crystal frowned.
No one dares question me that way, but I kind of grew up to knowing Crystal. Her mother worked as a maid in my grandfather's house so I've always known her.
“Oh, sorry. She was only given an ointment." I corrected it.
“Okay then. I'll go call her." She left me alone in the dining room to call Amora.
It's no news that I'm only concerned because I caused what happened to her. If not, I don't care whether or not she eats.
I looked down at the steaming bowl of rice and veggies before me. The aroma itself makes me salivate, Crystal makes the best dishes I've ever tasted.
I heard footsteps come downstairs, making me stop what I was doing.
When Amora got to where I was in her line of sight, she stopped walking, a shocked expression on her face. She glared hardly at Crystal who looked helpless.
She looked at me, then at Crystal before making a choice of coming to sit directly opposite me.
“I’ll just help you bring the soup I made for you.” Crystal left us alone, invoking an uncomfortable silence.
I kept looking at Amora but her own gaze was on the table cloth before her.
“Here you go." Crystal placed the food before her.
We had dinner in a really quiet mode, the only sound made was the sound of cutleries.
“We need to talk." I said, stopping her before she could leave the room.
"How's your throat?” I asked first after she waited.
“Fine." The word came out better than before.
"I know I've apologized several times already, but I'm apologizing again. I've never raised my hand on a female and I never thought I would.”
"I'm going to be plain, my reputation got so much into my head, I thought everything was ruined for me already. My wife being in the club alone, and how the picture depicted it made me really mad.”
"I thought you were really the one and my anger got the best of me.”
I sounded as convincing as my voice could ever be, but the deep frown on her face the moment she turned to me only read three things, ‘GO TO HELL!’
