Chapter Twenty-Nine Donovan Standing beside Bill’s hospital bed, I looked down at him. He was unconscious, of course. He was hooked up to a breathing tube and God knows what else with the hum of the breathing machine and occasional beeps in the room. The hospital sheet and bandages covered him, so I couldn’t see the burns. According to the medical team, he’d sustained burns on over eighty-percent of his body. His crew in California got caught in a ravine with the wind whipping the fire quickly in the opposite direction.
