The morning light coming through the window wakes me up. I check Lincoln’s spot on the floor, but it’s empty. Only his pillow and tiny blanket lay on the floor below me.
Yesterday was awful. Why didn’t I pick swimming or shopping instead? I don’t even know how to swim, but I think I might have preferred it.
I make my way downstairs for breakfast, and Raven is waiting at the bottom again. She leads me to the dining room without saying a word, even though I would have known where to go from yesterday.
If I stayed here longer, would she wait for me every single day?
She keeps her head lowered, as if she’s afraid of me. Word must have spread about Lincoln’s outrage, just for someone trying to speak to me.
I kind of like that, but I also feel bad for the people who work for him.
