I step in front of the opening of the dining room, keeping Lillia next to me behind the wall.
Lincoln and my dad are chatting it up, having a great time together.
I catch my dad’s eye, and the first thing he says is, “Cassian! Why can’t you be more like Lincoln here? He’s got some solid leadership skills.”
I roll my eyes, of course he thinks that.
“Well? What are you just standing there for?” He scolds.
I step over, and pull Lillia out from behind the wall.
I can see his shock for a quarter of a second, before he returns to his unfazed persona.
Lincoln, for some reason looks at Lillia like she killed his puppy.
My dad coughs, “Well, I can see why you wouldn’t reject her.”
Is that supposed to be his version of a compliment?
We join them at the table, and I make sure Lilli
