Easing himself quietly through the back door in the hope of collecting his bag without being seen, Jyp had not allowed for the unforeseen obstacle to his plans – Rosy, the cat. Catching sight of the bag his mother had ready, he made a beeline for it. No sooner had he started to lift the heavily laden bag off the table and turned to make his getaway, than the catastrophe occurred. At that point, the cat decided to welcome him home by winding herself around his ankle, with unfortunate consequences.
The resulting crash, as he reached out for support and only succeeded in pulling down a row of saucepans off the nearby shelf - one that at any other time might have been mistaken for a plane passing overhead - was enough to alert his mother who was dozing in the front room, awaiting his return.
