The throne room was unusually quiet.
Lucifer sat upon his throne, his fingers resting against the ancient armrest as he stared into the darkness before him.
Then the enormous doors opened.
Aiden entered.
He bowed immediately.
"Your Lordship."
Lucifer lifted his eyes.
"What is it?"
"The Demon Hybrid Clan has sent their answer."
Lucifer's expression remained calm.
"They've accepted the challenge?"
"Yes, Your Lordship."
Lucifer leaned back.
"And their contestant?"
"Jamil."
A faint smile appeared on Lucifer's lips.
"Of course."
Aiden hesitated before continuing.
"They've chosen this weekend. The challenge will take place at the arena."
"Good."
A voice suddenly came from the darkness behind them.
"Jayden?"
Aiden nearly jumped out of his skin.
Lucifer's eyes narrowed.
He slowly turned.
Jayden stepped out from the shadows.
Neither Lucifer nor Aiden had heard him enter.
Lucifer stared at his son.
"How long have you been there?"
Jayden's lips curved into a faint smile.
"Long enough."
He walked toward them.
"Long enough to see the worry on your face."
Lucifer scoffed.
"I'm not worried."
Jayden studied him.
"Are you sure, Father?"
"I'm fine."
Aiden remained silent.
He had stopped trying to understand how Jayden could appear and disappear without leaving even the faintest trace.
The boy could erase his scent.
Suppress his aura.
And somehow merge with darkness itself.
Even Lucifer couldn't explain it.
Sometimes, his son could stand only a few feet away and remain completely undetectable.
It was unsettling.
Even for the King of Demons.
Lucifer looked at Aiden.
"What else?"
Aiden straightened.
"There is something else you should know."
"Speak."
"The Demon-Born Blood Clan has been behaving strangely."
Lucifer's expression hardened.
"How?"
"They've been mating with other supernatural creatures."
Jayden's eyes narrowed.
Aiden continued.
"We believe they're attempting to create an entirely new race."
Lucifer was silent.
"Have you confirmed it?"
"Not yet. We're watching them."
Lucifer nodded slowly.
"Keep watching."
"Yes, Your Lordship."
Jayden's expression remained unreadable.
He had already heard whispers about the clan.
He knew something was happening.
But he didn't know what.
And that made him curious.
Aiden bowed.
"I'll take my leave."
Lucifer dismissed him with a wave.
Aiden quickly left.
He didn't want to remain in the same room with Jayden any longer than necessary.
There was something about the young demon that made even experienced warriors uneasy.
---
Lucifer turned toward his son.
"The time has come."
Jayden looked at him.
"For what?"
"To show them who you are."
A dangerous smile appeared on Jayden's face.
"I'm ready."
"I know."
Lucifer stood.
"Show them that you're my son."
He stepped closer.
"Show them that you carry the true bloodline."
Jayden's eyes began glowing faintly.
"And Jamil?"
Lucifer smiled.
"Defeat him."
Jayden nodded.
"That's easy."
Lucifer chuckled.
"But don't kill him."
Jayden raised an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"Because where is the fun in a challenge if there's no fear?"
Jayden smiled.
An eerie smile.
Aiden, who had barely reached the corridor, glanced back through the doorway.
The sight sent a chill through him.
He quickly turned away.
That boy is terrifying.
---
The Demon Hybrid Clan
That same night, Jayden stood deep within the forest surrounding the Demon Hybrid territory.
He had been coming here for years.
Watching.
Learning.
Observing.
And tonight, he had one particular target.
Jamil.
Reynold's son.
The demon chosen to challenge him for Lucifer's throne.
Jayden had seen him many times.
Jamil was tall and powerfully built, with broad shoulders, dark-brown hair, and equally dark eyes.
He had spent years training.
Years preparing himself to become the next ruler.
Reynold believed his son was finally ready.
He was wrong.
Jayden stood high above the ground, hidden among the branches.
Jamil was below, training with several warriors.
Jayden watched silently.
Jamil was strong.
Very strong.
But compared to him?
There was no comparison.
Jayden had been created differently.
He was slender and lean rather than muscular.
His pale-blue hair fell around his face.
His pale skin almost glowed beneath the moonlight.
But his greatest weapon wasn't his strength.
It was the shadows.
Jayden could disappear into them.
He could suppress his aura.
He could hide his scent.
He could stand directly beside someone without being noticed.
It was the perfect ability for someone who wasn't supposed to exist.
The entire Demon Kingdom believed Lucifer's mysterious heir might simply be a political trick.
A story created to discourage the clans from fighting over the throne.
They didn't know Jayden was real.
They didn't know he had been watching them for years.
And they certainly didn't know he was standing above them at that very moment.
---
Jamil suddenly stopped training.
His eyes narrowed.
He felt something.
Someone was watching him.
He turned.
Nothing.
Only trees.
Only darkness.
Jamil sniffed the air.
Nothing.
Jayden smiled from the shadows.
You can feel me.
But you'll never find me.
He turned to leave.
Then something else caught his attention.
A strange scent.
Not demon.
Not vampire.
Not witch.
Jayden looked toward the edge of the territory.
A creature was moving through the grass.
He followed it.
His eyes narrowed.
A deer.
But Jayden knew immediately.
It wasn't a deer.
The creature lifted its head.
Its eyes locked with his.
Jayden stopped.
The deer stared at him.
Then Jayden spoke.
"Do you know you could get yourself killed being here?"
The deer froze.
A moment later, its body shifted.
Bones cracked.
Fur disappeared.
And the creature transformed into the red-haired girl from the forest.
Aurora.
She stared at Jayden.
"How did you know?"
Jayden raised an eyebrow.
"Know what?"
"That I wasn't a deer."
He gave her an unimpressed look.
"Only a fool would ask that."
Aurora frowned.
Jayden continued.
"You're standing inside demon territory."
He stepped closer.
"Did you really think you could fool demons by pretending to be an animal?"
Aurora remained silent.
"Demons have heightened senses. We know the difference between a real animal and something pretending to be one."
He turned away.
"Leave before someone finds you."
Aurora's expression changed.
"Wait!"
Jayden stopped.
"I need help."
He glanced over his shoulder.
"I don't help strangers."
"They're hunting me."
Jayden said nothing.
"The witches and vampires," she continued desperately. "They want me dead. I've been hiding all my life."
She looked around.
"I came here because they can't enter demon territory without permission."
Jayden turned toward her.
"You came into the territory of the most dangerous supernatural race because you thought that would keep you safe?"
Aurora nodded.
"Yes."
Jayden shook his head.
"You're either incredibly brave..."
He paused.
"...or incredibly foolish."
"Please."
Jayden stared at her.
For some reason, he couldn't walk away.
There was something about her.
Something familiar.
Something he couldn't explain.
He should have left her.
He should have reported her.
But instead, he made a decision that could change everything.
"Fine."
Aurora's eyes widened.
Jayden stepped forward.
"But you stay where I put you."
Before she could ask where—
Jayden grabbed her.
The world disappeared.
---
The Forgotten Realm
Aurora opened her eyes.
She was standing in a strange, silent kingdom.
Ancient black buildings surrounded her.
The streets were empty.
There was no sound.
No movement.
Nothing.
She slowly turned.
"Where are we?"
Jayden stood beside her.
"Welcome to Hell."
Aurora's face paled.
"The Underworld?"
Jayden nodded.
"This is the only place I can think of where they won't find you."
Aurora looked around nervously.
"What about your father?"
Jayden's expression changed.
"Don't worry about him."
He pointed toward an old house.
"You'll stay there."
Aurora looked at him.
"Stay?"
"Yes."
"You aren't staying?"
"No."
She frowned.
"Why?"
"Because my father warned me not to come here."
Aurora stared at him.
"Then why did you bring me?"
Jayden sighed.
"I don't know."
That answer seemed to surprise even him.
He turned to leave.
Aurora called after him.
"Wait!"
Jayden stopped.
"Who are you?"
He looked back.
"You already know what I am."
"No. I don't."
Jayden's eyes glowed faintly.
"I'm the Devil's son."
Aurora's eyes widened.
"The Devil's son?"
Jayden nodded.
"And you're the forbidden child."
Her face immediately changed.
"What?"
"The child born from the forbidden union between a vampire and a witch."
Aurora stared at him.
"How do you know that?"
"I know more than you think."
He turned away.
"My name is Jayden."
Aurora hesitated.
"Aurora."
Jayden nodded.
"I know."
She stared at him.
"You said no one believes you exist."
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"They don't."
He stepped backward into the shadows.
"That's why you'll be safe here."
Aurora watched him disappear.
But before the darkness completely swallowed him, she heard his voice.
"Don't wander."
Then he was gone.
Aurora stood alone in the forgotten Underworld.
She looked around nervously.
She didn't know where she was.
She didn't know why Jayden had helped her.
And she certainly didn't know that she had just been brought into the one place where a far greater secret was sleeping.
Behind an enormous sealed gate, deep within the ancient Underworld...
The Blood Hall remained untouched.
For centuries, its doors had never opened.
But tonight...
Something inside stirred.
A faint golden-purple glow appeared beneath the ancient seal.
And somewhere beyond the realm...
A prophecy began to unfold.
Because Jayden had just saved a girl who was never supposed to cross his path.
And neither of them knew yet...
she would become the key to awakening the bloodline that would change everything.
