Lucifer smiled as he watched Jayden. "Soon, they'll know you, my son." Jayden remained silent, his pale-blue eyes fixed on his father. "I gave them an open challenge," Lucifer continued. "The moment they decide to challenge you, I'll bring you before the entire kingdom. You'll prove yourself worthy—not only of my throne, but of leading the Demon Kingdom when I'm gone." A faint smile touched Jayden's lips. Lucifer studied him. His son was far too calm. Perhaps that was what worried him most. "Do you want to go hunting?" Lucifer asked. Jayden's eyes suddenly glowed crimson. "Can I?" Lucifer chuckled. "Of course. But where are you going?" "I want to go beyond the borders." Lucifer's smile disappeared. "Beyond the borders?" Jayden nodded. "I've explored almost every part of the kingdom." Lucifer stared at him for a moment before sighing. "Fine. But be careful." "I will." "And don't let anyone see you." Jayden's eyes glowed brighter. "Yes, Father." "Good." Jayden stepped backward. Then his body dissolved into the darkness. Within seconds, he was gone. Lucifer watched the empty space where his son had stood. A proud smile slowly returned to his face. Over the years, Jayden's thirst had grown stronger. But with Lucifer and Aiden's guidance, he had learned to control it. That alone made Lucifer proud. Yet deep inside, he still wondered how far his son's hunger could eventually go. Because Jayden wasn't like ordinary demons. He was something entirely different. --- The Immortality of Demons Demons did not age the way humans did. A thousand years could pass, and a demon could remain almost exactly the same. But immortality did not mean they could never die. As centuries passed, their powers slowly weakened. When a demon's power was completely depleted, their existence would eventually fade. They would simply disappear. There were other ways to kill them. A pure silver blade could pierce a demon's heart and end its existence instantly. But there was another method. One far more terrifying. Power absorption. And Jayden possessed that ability. He could drain a demon's blood and supernatural power until nothing remained. The demon would die. And Jayden would become stronger. No demon in the kingdom knew this. They didn't even know that Lucifer's son had been living among them all along. Watching. Listening. Learning. And waiting. --- Beyond the Demon Borders Jayden moved like a shadow through the forest. He had traveled beyond the Demon Kingdom many times. He knew every hidden path within his father's territory. He had even wandered close to the clans. Some demons had seen him. But those who had seen too much... had never lived long enough to tell anyone what they had witnessed. Jayden wasn't cruel. He simply didn't like being discovered. Tonight, however, he wanted something different. He wanted to see what existed beyond his father's kingdom. Eventually, the air changed. The dark energy of the Demon Kingdom faded behind him. A different supernatural presence filled the forest. Vampires. Witches. Jayden stopped. In the distance stood the territories of two powerful races. But they weren't living peacefully. They were at war. Vampires and witches had once lived alongside each other. Until a forbidden union shattered their peace. According to the stories Jayden had heard, the Vampire Prince had fallen in love with a witch. Their bond was forbidden. Yet they had defied their people. And from their union, a daughter had been born. A child carrying both bloodlines. The witches wanted her dead. The vampires wanted to control her. So the child's mother had hidden her. Jayden didn't care much about the war. He wasn't there to interfere. He was hungry. He climbed the tallest tree in the forest and settled on one of its thick branches. From there, he watched the lands below. His crimson eyes scanned the darkness. Nothing. He waited. Still nothing. Then— Crack. Jayden's head snapped toward the trees. His senses sharpened. Someone was there. He remained perfectly still. The leaves moved again. Then suddenly— WHOOSH! A creature launched itself at him. Its claws flashed through the darkness. Jayden disappeared. The creature landed where he had been sitting. It snarled and turned. But Jayden was already behind it. He was about to strike when something unexpected happened. The creature suddenly transformed. Bones shifted. Fur disappeared. The body became human. A young woman collapsed onto the ground. Jayden froze. "A shapeshifter." The woman slowly pushed herself up. She was slender, with light skin, striking blue eyes, and long red hair that fell over her shoulders. But Jayden could sense something unusual about her. She wasn't an ordinary shapeshifter. She was something much rarer. Something that should not have existed. The woman looked around in confusion. "I had it..." She glanced toward the trees. "How did it escape?" Then a voice came from behind her. "Are you looking for me?" The woman's body stiffened. She slowly turned. Jayden stepped from the shadows. For the first time, she saw him clearly. Tall. Pale-blue hair. Cold expression. Eyes glowing crimson. The woman stared at him. Jayden stared back. Neither moved. Then her eyes widened. "What are you?" Jayden said nothing. A strange feeling had settled inside him. He could sense it. Her blood wasn't ordinary. Vampire. Witch. Shapeshifter. Three supernatural forces existed inside her. But there was something else. Something he couldn't identify. Before Jayden could move closer, a strange warning sound echoed through the forest. His expression changed. Someone was approaching. He glanced toward the direction of the sound. When he looked back... The woman was gone. Jayden narrowed his eyes. Interesting. He could have chased her. He could have killed her. But for some reason... he didn't. --- The girl raced through the forest. She transformed again, her body shifting into another creature before disappearing into the darkness. She had been hiding since birth. The witches wanted her. The vampires wanted her. Neither side knew exactly where she was. And she intended to keep it that way. But tonight... someone had seen her. Someone she had never encountered before. Someone whose presence felt strangely familiar. She didn't know his name. She didn't know what he was. But she knew one thing. He was dangerous. --- Jayden returned to the Demon Kingdom several hours later. He had already satisfied his hunger. But his mind remained elsewhere. On the strange girl. Who was she? Why had her blood felt so unusual? And why had he spared her? He entered the palace quietly. As he stepped into his chambers, he immediately knew he wasn't alone. "Father." Lucifer stepped from the shadows behind the bed. Jayden wasn't surprised. After twenty years, he had grown used to his father's tricks. Lucifer folded his arms. "You're back late." Jayden smiled faintly. "I was exploring." Lucifer raised an eyebrow. "So if I hadn't sounded the alarm, you wouldn't have known anyone was watching you?" Jayden chuckled. "Perhaps." Lucifer shook his head. "Be careful out there." Jayden looked at him. "I can handle myself." "I know." Lucifer walked toward the door. "But I'd rather not see the Devil's son become someone's prey." Jayden's expression changed. "The Devil's son..." The words lingered in his mind. Lucifer disappeared through the doorway. Jayden remained standing in the middle of his room. His thoughts returned to the girl beyond the borders. Her eyes. Her blood. Her strange aura. Something told him their meeting hadn't been an accident. And somewhere beyond the Demon Kingdom... the mysterious girl opened her eyes. For the first time in years, she whispered a question she had never dared ask before. "Who was that demon?" Neither of them knew it yet. But their paths had crossed for a reason. And their meeting would eventually uncover a secret buried far deeper than either of them could imagine. The first thread of fate had been pulled. And somewhere in the darkness... Ariana Vale was waiting.
