Awakenings: The Rise of an Empire

Batair

     Marcus and his parents were working in the pack office making travel plans and discussing pack business. Ohaval reviewed the daily pack schedule with him from the day to day training regime, to the duties of the pack Beta, the Omega, and the warriors, to traveling between the mortal world and the human world to meet with the different pack Alphas across the country, to managing the different pack businesses.

     Marcus was amazed at the work of the pack along with the different alliances in Etolis and the human world. He felt Batair, his wolf, began to become anxious.

     “What’s wrong,” he linked him. Batair simply paced back and forth. He walked over to one of the office windows for fresh air, thinking maybe it would settle his wolf. Ohaval noticed Marcus’ mood change.

     “What’s wrong, son?” He asked. “I don’t know its Batair he’s pacing, something is making him anxious.” Ohaval looked over at Aditi, “Can you feel his wolf’s emotions?”

     “I can, he seems to be picking up on something, but I sense no danger, the pack warriors are here with us along with the warriors from each alliance.”

Suddenly Marcus the sweetest scent of strawberries, and wildflowers struck him. “What is that scent,” he sniffed the air, it was the best thing he ever smelled. “Mate!!,” Batair growled. Batair took over and pushed Marcus to the back of his mind before he could respond they were headed for the front door.

    Batair pushed his way out of the office with Ohaval and Aditi close behind. He ran down the steps two at a time, when he reached the front door, he was shaking trying desperately to keep himself from shifting. That is when he saw her, her light caramel skin glowing in the setting sun, her huge beautiful green eyes framed her small round face, the freckles that dotted her nose, and her beautiful auburn curls in a lazy bun. It was like the sun never shown until he saw it in her eyes. “MINE,” he roared. The next thing Marcus knew Batair had picked up Dannie and was heading into the forest, and he was having a hard time regaining control because the love and connection he felt for her before was nothing compared to what he felt now. He knew at this moment he would die for her; he was just as dazed by her as his wolf.

Dannie

    “Marcus! Put me down!” Instead of stopping and releasing me, he pulled me closer and pressed his nose to the base of my neck.

     “You smell like heaven.” His voice rumbled through me, it sounded deeper than before.  A jolt of electricity surged straight through me at the contact, instantly I wound my arms around his neck, and before I knew what was happening, I pulled him in for an earth-shattering kiss. I felt like I was shocked by a live wire and my heart began to race. This caused him to stop at the base of the forest, end the kiss and sit me under a huge tree. I immediately wanted to be back in his arms.

     His eyes were black as night, he looked at me with such passion I thought I would combust. He raised his hands and took a few steps back.

     “I need a second or I will consummate our union here and now.” Thoughts and emotions, I never experienced before began racing through my mind, my heart felt like it was hammering in my chest. “Dannie, please I can feel your arousal. I’m on edge and I’m trying to regain control.”

      I looked at him wide-eyed, “I, I’m sorry.” I felt my face heat and I intuitively knew I was blushing.

     He reached for me and I willingly went to him. “Come let’s return to the house I interrupted an overdue reunion.” He said as he gazed into my eyes. n my arms around him and told him I missed him too.  We walked hand in hand toward the house. Any questions I may have had about our future or Marcus’ feelings for me disappeared. I felt complete and looking into his eyes I saw nothing but love and complete dedication.

Unknown

     I watched from my hiding place at the edge of the forest on the border of their lands, so far, I had gone undetected. They had no clue of the fate that awaited them. I will get my revenge for my partner; he had not been blessed with the same luck as me. He was discovered and captured by the pack warriors the other night while we were following their children. I was able to escape and now I am preparing to deliver my own message. I was waiting to meet with my personal spy that I placed among them as a servant. Once my message is delivered, I will return to Etolis and report to Cadoc. I heard her approach and climbed down from my hiding place.

     “Hello Master,” she greeted me with her head bowed.

     “Hello, Natalia; I see you were able to easily adjust to your surroundings.

    “Yes, they took me in a few months ago, I think I am a rogue and that my pack was destroyed.”      

“Good I need you to be my eyes and ears for now. I will give you further instructions later. For now, I need to return to Etolis and report to Cadoc. The least you know the better. Stay close to them and find out as much as you can. For now, you need to return no need to away too long.”  

     “Yes, Master.”

     “Natalia, remember you are not under any circumstances allowed to join the pack. The moment you do you will be linked to them and every discussion we had will be uncovered through the mind-link. Understand.”

       “Yes, Master; I understand.” She disappeared into the forest. It was time to return to Etolis.

Annie

     Everything fell into place, Dannie and Matt excepted the roles so easily. Matt was outback with his parents they were teaching him how to connect with his wolf and phase for the first time. My parents were currently meeting with Marcus and Kristoph along with their parents in the pack office discussing our safety and travel arrangements to Etolis. I was in the suite I shared with Kristoph discussing everything with Dannie. She was over the moon and excited about all the changes that were to come. She was glowing the moment her and Marcus entered the mansion you could see how it surrounded them, they were so in love, and connected on a deeper level it was radiating from them. The smile on Dannie’s face was huge as she explained how her first phase would come after Marcus marked her and how it is a pleasurable experience, they both would share, she blushed as she explained it. She said her and Marcus would have a wedding ceremony first because he wanted her to be his mate in every way before he marked her. I shared with her how I understood her feelings. I explained that the simple touch of Kristoph’s had sent explosions throughout my body and emotions so deep I never felt before. His kisses are all-consuming. We both laughed when we realized we were blushing. She told me that outside of my so-called creepy golden eyes and how strong I looked, that I was basically still the same. She was not afraid of me and was strangely okay with having a vampire as her best friend. I on the other hand was in awe of Dannie, not only was she taking her submersion into immortal life well, but she is also a magical werewolf. My parents said once she changes not only will her wolf be rare, but immensely powerful, maybe even more powerful than her mother.

     We were so overjoyed to still have each other in this new life, I wrapped her in a tight hug and whispered, “I love you, Dannie, I am so happy to have you at my side.”

     She hugged me back and said, “and I love you. I could not do this without you.”  

      I wonder what awaited us in Etolis. In a few days’ time, we would all travel to the immortal lands. We would travel the different Kingdoms together, our parents would introduce us, an official ceremony will commence celebrating our return, we would officially accept and learn our roles. I also wondered what dangers we faced, and how we will protect our people. We have alliances here in the mortal world and the immortal world, but we also have enemies, and they are powerful and from what little we have learned so far, they are not to be underestimated.
