Alec The week went by in a blur of emotions as we laid Ricky’s soul to rest. Humans had this weird tradition of preserving their dead in boxes and burying them. It baffled the hell out of me. Why wouldn't they just send their dead back to the earth from which they came? Instead, they preserve them at a single moment in time, freezing them and never allowing them to fully rest. Their God must be pissed. I’ve read their Bible. I know what it says. Beau stuck around for the funeral, and to my surprise, he didn’t bully Zeke. He merely hung back and observed the poor man grieve. It was as if he were trying to decide on something, but I couldn't figure out what. After the funeral, Serenity and I spent more time with Maddy and Zeke. I had given them my old house, seeing how I wouldn’t need it
