Choking Hazard

Adeline’s POV
I came out of a locker room dressed in a blue shirt which has Hartley Corporation written in front of it in white, then a short white flared skirt and sneakers, all provided by the company.
It’s the rule for new staff to dress this way at every orientation.
I bumped into a man immediately I came out, and he held me by the waist to prevent me from falling.
“Mr. Kay” I muttered, and he smiled. He’s the head of staff.
He kept holding my waist while staring at me, so I quickly released myself.
“You look good in the orientation outfit” he said, exploring me with his eyes.
“Thanks, I have to go now” I replied and rushed out of the hallway.
I entered the orientation hall and blinked when I saw the new staff member already seated.
The old staff is in too, though they are standing, making it a full hall of staff.
I gave Alex and Stefan a light smile before walking to a chair to sit. Julia winked at me, telling me I’m beautiful in the outfit and I smiled again.
Julia loves to compliment anything I wear.
The orientation speech was given by Mr. Kay, advising the new staff to stay away from things that would get them fired and to obey the rules of the company.
“What are the rules?” I asked the middle of the staff.
“The boss himself is coming to tell us about it.” Mr. Kay replied, and Damien entered the hall with Theo.
His walking step is naturally a bae. He walks like a model and any ground is runaway for him.
The staff began screaming “boss” all except me who was looking at him hatefully, remembering the words he said that year, and how he poured all the blame on me when we were both drunk and at fault.
The only thing making me stay here is Oliver, and the moment I save enough money to take care of him together with Maya, I’m going to get introduced as his mom and take him away from Damien.
Damien’s eyes were on me as he climbed the stage, and he didn’t talk for some minutes.
Even after the hailing went down, he kept staring at me, and it was Theo who cleared his throat to bring him back to his senses.
“Good day, newbies” he said calmly.
“Gawd! That cool voice melts her heart every time,” Julia said.
“Stop drooling, he’s not for you” Alexander said beside her.
“Why?” She faced him.
“Z” Stefan said teasingly from the other side, and she rolled her eyes at the two.
Damien’s speech ended after five minutes, and when he left the stage amidst the claps, he sat in the front row, getting a bottle of water to drink from.
“Now, shall we add a little bit of entertainment to this room?” Mr. Zed said, climbing the stage again.
“Sure” everyone shouted.
“Then one of the new staff should come and give us a five-minute dance.” He said and they all went quiet.
“I don’t like Mr. Zed for an unknown reason,” Alexander said.
“Same here” Stefan said and they stuck hands.
“I can never get used to you both.” Julia shook her head.
No newbie tried to volunteer for the dance, so Mr. Zed smiled.
“Mrs. Adeline Orlov? Why don’t you do us the favour?” He said and my eyes widened.
“Me?”
“Sure, it’s just five minutes” Mr. Zed smiled again, and I bit my mouth before starting to walk to the stage.
The staff began clapping, and it didn’t stop till I got to the stage.
“Senorita by Camilla Cabello” began playing, and I stood for a moment, thinking of how to start.
The thought that I’d be seeing Oliver soon made me smile and the vibes came immediately.
I began dancing with so much happiness, making the simple moves with a smile.
Everyone in the hall focused on me, I had already gotten them thrilled just two minutes into the dance.
Damien was staring without blinking, and the happiness he saw on my face made him smile too.
He can’t wait for working hours to be over so we can talk.
Three minutes into the dance, I encircled my legs and raised my arms up, revealing the movements of my waist and I whined it so easily.
The room became heated and Damien started sweating, but only he.
He adjusted his seat and couldn’t blink as he stared.
I jumped so softly, and when I landed back on the ground, I threw my head sideways, making my hair flow with the air, then I pushed out my chest and wriggled my boobs, making them shake.
“Damn she’s doing it” people murmured.
“Oh my gawd, she’s so hurt!” Julia laughed.
I did the boobs move again, and that was it.
Damien needed water to quench the hotness in here right now, the hotness I’m causing.
He uncapped the water bottle and drank from it just when I went down low to sway my butt.
Damien choked on the water immediately, and it splashed out of his mouth as he began coughing.
“Boss!” Alexander and Stefan started rushing to him.
“Boss!” Theo and Julia started rushing to him too.
Innocent me stopped dancing as everyone started rushing to Damien who’s still coughing.
“Boss” Alexander held his shoulders.
He kept coughing, holding his chest tightly, while panting for breath repeatedly.
“Call an ambulance!!!!!” Stefan screamed, but Damien stood up immediately.
He gave me another look on the stage, and I blinked innocently.
“I’m fine” he told Alexander who was about to call an ambulance, and he dropped the phone.
“We need to talk, Adeline” he said.
I hadn’t chanced to reply before he walked out of the hall, still holding his chest.
“He wants to talk to you” Julia said to me, and I came down from the stage.
“You should go fast” Stefan added, and I nodded once before walking out of the hall.
I was wondering what he could probably want to talk about till I got into his office and met him standing in front of his desk, his back to me.
He wasn’t even aware of when I came in, so I had to clear my throat to make him aware, and he turned immediately.
“You wanna talk about…
“Oliver” he cut me off, and I sighed, walking closer to him.
“I already told you I’d just meet him as your PA for now. I’m not ready to…
“I know how you feel, I know you are hurt with everything I said to you that year but….
“Damien…” I interrupted, and he stopped talking.
“This isn’t about what you said to me. I experienced something more hurtful, so the things you said to me were meaningless to me. But getting introduced to Oliver as his mom right now would definitely not go well for me.” I said firmly, and he brought his phone out.
He placed it on the desk and played a recording of Oliver’s call earlier.
“Find me my mom!!!” His crying voice came and I bit my lips so hard immediately that blood started coming out.
“You hurt yourself “ he said when he saw that, and made to wipe the blood with his hand, but I stepped back, and that was when he remembered the ring on my finger.
“I heard we can clock out after the orientation. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow, Mr. Hartley.” I said and walked out of the office.
I met several staff members on my way back to the locker room, and they had their eyes on me, murmuring different things.
“She obviously did that move to seduce the boss”
“I know right? So obvious”
“I thought Mr. Zed told everyone to focus on their jobs only.
I decided to pretend like I didn’t hear anything, licking the blood on my lips as I was about to enter the locker room when I bumped into someone.
“I’m so sorry” I said simply, looking up to meet the eyes of a lady who seemed so angry.
“So sorry? You think that’s gonna cut it? You weren’t blind when you were dancing to seduce boss, you know?” She said,
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” I replied, and she came closer with a smirk.
“Didn’t you do the boobs move to seduce him? You got recognized as the company b***h already” she said.
“You should take that back, Klara” Stefan’s voice interrupted the conversation as he showed up with Alexander.
“We are all staff here and there’s freedom of speech!” Klara fired back.
“You are always treating newbies like this because your boyfriend is the head of staff” Alexander rolled his eyes as they both covered me from her.
“I was only stating facts, she’s been too obvious” Klara scoffed and walked away.
“That crazy wench” Stefan muttered as they both faced me.
“She’s Mr. Kay’s girlfriend?” I asked slowly.
“Yes, and it’s her hobby to pick on newbies, so be careful of her” Alexander replied.
“And I guess your dance earlier affected the boss for real” Stefan said.
“Absolutely no. He only choked, not because of me” I replied and entered the locker room.
Immediately I opened my locker, Oliver’s voice from the call entered my ears again, and I stopped to stare into space for a while before shaking it off.
I got my clothes and dressed up before leaving the room.
