BECCA

1196 Words
She got taken into the dorm Z was talking about. For being 10,000 feet under the ground the so-called “dorms'' were quite nice. It was a nice condo, it looked as if it was owned by a billionaire or something, in all honesty though, it probably was. She wandered around the quiet home. The entrance had a giant silk canopy above it. She found her room, it was extremely bland, well compared to the rest of the home. The beds were made of dark oak, there were 4 desks accompanied with a laptop on every desk. The desks all had a number engraved into them, so did the beds. She sat down on the bottom bunk of a bunk bed. The bed had the numbers 1,268,567 engraved in silver on one of the bottom bedposts. There were no sheets on the bed, Becca figured it was meant for some sort of personal touch.  She started to replay what Z had told her in the office. What's with the number and why can't I just use my name. 1,268,567 is so specific! She questioned this over and over till she heard the door open. There was a boy, he had dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes. The boy looked… maybe 20? So around her age. "O-Oh hello, you must be the new roommate Z was- they were-they talking- they were talking about?" Becca facepalms herself for stuttering. “Right ehm, so what's your name?”She asked. The boy seems annoyed. "1,283,567, what about you," “Do they really call each other by numbers … eh 1,283,567" She questioned. “OH, and I’m…” Becca took the sticky note off her shirt and read it out loud. “I’m… 1,268,567.” How in the world am I supposed to remember people's numbers? Especially is there all this long.  What would they do if I just used my real name? Questions circled through her mind until the other number spoke again. "You seem stressed, what, it your first day or something?” The boy laughed at her. Becca was dumbfounded, was he really joking about this?” When she didn't answer him he finally seemed to be picking up on her situation. He coughed, “Do you know what letter you first talked to, some are better at explaining than others," "Oh uhm yeah I got Z, I guess they weren't the best at explaining, and eh kind of rude." I honestly hoped that Z wouldn't be my boss... At least not for long. "Hm, I think Z is a new letter so I don't know much about them but I'll explain most everything to you," The number explained everything about the company that he knew and somewhat explained her schedule for the rest of her life. Becca started to grow a deep hatred for the company, it only seemed to grow as her roommate continued talking. No wonder Z was so cold-blooded, as far as she knew, Z's lived most of her life here.. 1,283,294 said some people were even born here. I can't even imagine a life being suck in a building. THIS building. On the plus side, the dorm has amazingly comfortable beds and fancy food that Becca doesn't have to pay for. She wasn't sure if you had to pay rent or not, but since you can't leave, she doubts it. She started to go into a downwards spiral of convincing herself the situation wasn't all bad. She sits in the cold dreaded dorm, the decor was starting to make her feel sick. Sitting there staring off in space, for what felt like minutes, her roommate snapped her out of it to go to dinner. Becca goes down the stairs, decorated with a white carpet, and plenty of art hanging from the walls. She enters the dining room see a small table, fit to sit 4 people, with two other people already there. She sits down next to the number she had talked to earlier, which happened to be the only one she knew there. "Guys this is 1,268,567, our new roommate," They started. "Hello! I'm 1,946,892 and this is 1,284,927!" One of the males said excitedly. Maybe they just didn't get out too often. "Hi uh nice to meet you," She responds. Becca, obviously having mixed emotions about the whole situation; cringes at either the overly happy male in front of her, or at herself for being ok with any of this. "Apparently she's new to the whole company, don't come off too strong, I'm looking at you" He states, glaring at 1,946,892. "Oh shut it! You know how I am! Now what's for dinner? It's the only thing in this hell hole I can look forward to!" The passionate number yells. The conversation goes on for a little while longer, it took around five minutes for another person to walk in. It's hard to describe them, they were shaky, and warned out, not to mention looked exhausted, a simple noise would scare the absolute hell out of them. They have a plate and serve us each a dish. "I'm sorry for being late, there was a dinner I had to attend." The lady said, trying not to stutter "It's fine, though, if you don't mind, you look awful, what happened..?" 1,283,567 asked, looking concerned. "I-I was just being a burden again but t-thats fine, I-Im fine, It doesn't really m-matter anyway." The lady turns to looks at Becca. " S-silver told me about you, my name is Lilly and I will be bringing you your meals and serve to to the best o-of my ability everyday, it's a pleasure to work under you." So her name is  Lilly? Why can she use her  name but not us? Maybe it's something deeper than that, I guess it's not really my place to worry though. Lilly hands us the meals. There was a steak cooked to about medium rare, along with an arrangement of vegetables, an assortment of fruit, and lastly, the option of a soda or a variety of alcohol to drink, given Becca was underage she chose the soda. She wasn't too sure what the soda was, and she didn't dare touch it. She ended up eating the steak and sides, it was amazing to say the least. Finishing the meal was no challenge and afterward she went upstairs to take a look at the place she'd be sleeping. She looked in a drawer, 1,946,892 said some clothes would be in there. How did they get my size..? She gets the clothes and change into them. They were made of fine navy blue silk, and it fit almost perfectly. Fitting into the experience, of the nice, comfortable house they were extremely comfortable. It had a long sleeved shirt with long comfortable pants. She laid down in her bed wondering what the day had turned into. I came in for an interview and ended up in a mental hospital for what? Life? This is going to make me go insane. After the others get into there beds, she closed her eyes and soon fell asleep in the silent dorm room.
