CHAPTER TWELVE They arrived at the seeing-eye dog agency just after 9:00. The place had no name and looked exactly the same as any animal shelter. It was located just off of a state road, surrounded by a small field on one side and an expanse of woodland on the other. It was flanked by a gravel driveway and nothing else, the epitome of an off-the-beaten-path sort of place. As they got out of the car, Mackenzie could hear a few dogs barking happily somewhere on the other side of the small one-story building. Ellington had called ahead to make sure someone would be there to meet with them; it was a good thing, as the agency was open by appointment only.
