CHAPTER NINETEEN When Clarke had said trouble at the station, Mackenzie’s mind had conjured up the sort of chaotic circus she sometimes saw in DC when things got out of hand or a case had finally been clutched by the media. So when they arrived at the Stateton PD and she saw only a handful of cars and a single news van, she was relieved. For a while. They got out of the car and headed for the front doors only to be accosted by a single news reporter and a camera man who looked like he’d just come straight out of college. Mackenzie did her best to ignore the short female reporter, looking past her and to the doors of the PD. She saw a few people huddled there, peering out.
