Isabella’s POV The house stands before me, suffocating, familiar in all the worst ways. I swore I’d never come back, yet here I am, trapped once again in a place that has never felt like home. I turn to him, irritation tightening in my chest. “You know, it’s really pathetic that you got the council involved.” My words are sharp, meant to cut, but his attention is elsewhere, like I don’t even exist. My patience wears thin. “Of course, ignore me,” I add, my tone dripping with annoyance.
