Damien's POV
"Mama! Want Mama!"
I was washing my hands in the restaurant's restroom, lost in thoughts about the deal I was about to close off with the Blue Stones Corporations when all of a sudden, a tiny ball of energy ran into the room.
A little boy, eyes covered in tears, ran straight into a stall. I was barely concerned about the crying boy until his wailing noise got louder.
Was he lost?
"Look here kid...." I started but the rest of my words got caught in my throat when I landed my gaze on him.
The kid looked... like me. Alarmingly like me.
I froze, my mind racing. How did he...?
My heart skipped a beat as I stared at the boy, carefully accessing his physical features from his piercing blue eyes to his dark blond hair, the shape of his eyes, the tiny nose, everything about his facial features reminded me of.....Me?
It was like I was literally staring at a mini version of myself.
The boy started crying, calling out for his mother. I moved closer, my mind racing.
I fell to my knees and glared at him with so much amusement. "Uhm..." I struggled to think of the right words to calm him down.
"What is your name?" I asked, although he looked a bit too young to know his name but I was wrong, the boy looked up at me, tears streaming down his face. "Aiden."
I felt a jolt. Those eyes.....
Just as I was about to ask him more about himself, perhaps about his a parents, a man rushed in, apologizing profusely. "I am so sorry! I apologize for any inconveniences he must have caused you."
"Come on Aiden, let us go." The man grabbed the boy's hand and pulled him out of the bathroom without waiting to hear my response.
I hastily followed, still dumbstruck by what was going on. How was it possible that a random child looked so much like me?
I trailed them, my eyes fixed on the woman they approached. Her back was turned, but something about her dark brown, wavy hair seemed so familiar.
"Mama!" the kid shouted, and she turned, scooping him up.
Miles appeared beside me. "What are you doing Damien?" His voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
"Who are they?" I pointed to the direction of the little boy.
Miles furrowed his brows in confusion at me.
"How should I know that Damien? Plus, how does any of that even matter right now? Ghe personal assistant to the CEO of Blue Stones is literally sitting in the VIP lounge, waiting for you!" Miles said.
"Miles..." I trailed off.
"Sir?" Miles looked confused.
"Get a picture of them now." I ordered.
"Excuse me?" Miles stared at me like I had grown an extra head.
"Get a picture of them, Miles! Do it quickly if you do not want to lose your job."
Miles groaned in frustration. "I hate it when you get like this."
As he hurried off, I watched the woman, the boy, and the man leave the restaurant. The man glanced back at me once, a flicker of recognition settled in his gaze.
I stood there, watching them until they disappeared from my sight. Then I turned to enter the meeting, my mind still fixated on them.
Who was that woman? And who was that boy?
Why did the kid look like he'd come straight from my DNA?
All these thoughts lingered in my head till the meeting with the personal assistant of the Blue stones corporations ended.
After the meeting, I went back to the mansion, just to go over some documents.
I was in my study when Miles knocked and entered. "Sir, we need to discuss the Blue Stones deal."
I nodded, putting the papers aside. "What is the update?"
Miles briefed me on the final agreement with the personal assistant, Rachel Thompson. "She seemed pleased with our proposal to acquire a majority stake in Blue Stones Mining. They are looking for a cash injection to expand their operations in South Africa."
I leaned forward, nodding "And the terms?"
"They are willing to accept our offer of £50 million for 51% of the company, but they want a seat on the board and veto power over any major decisions."
I nodded, mentally calculating the consequences.
"We can agree to that. But we need to ensure we have control over the operational decisions. I do not want any interference from them."
Miles nodded, making a note. "I will make sure to include that in the contract."
I agreed, and we discussed a few more details. As we wrapped up, Miles pulled out his phone and flashed the screen in my face. "Also, I got the picture you asked for, sir."
Right. How could I have forgotten about the boy from earlier?
I gazed at the picture of the woman and the little boy. My mind went blank as I stared. I recognized her, but from where?
Miles cleared his throat. "Sir, is everything okay?"
I shook my head, struggling to relieve my memory.
Then it hit me! The woman from the store. She was the woman who had dumped a bra on my face.
How could I have possibly forgotten that incident even though it happened three years ago?
I almost laughed. What were the odds?
"Do you know them? You seem so interested."
Miles pointed out.
Just as I was about to comment, a loud voice echoed through the air. "What do you mean she's back with a child?"
Victoria's voice, coming from the living room. I paused, my attention caught.
Miles looked at me questioningly, but I raised a hand, listening intently.
Victoria's voice grew more agitated. "I do not care about the details, I swear I do not care, Just make sure you find out if it is true..."
There was a pause from her end.
"What do you mean she's back with a child?" she repeated, her tone cold.
What was she talking about? Who was she discussing with? Most importantly, what child?
