A STAND-IN GROOM ~Camila’s POV~ “I knew it. The way this bastard has been laughing ever since he met me got me worried. I knew he was up to something, and I guessed right.” “May I know the reason why you are against your union!?” The priest asked worriedly. “I wasn't going to oppose the wedding! Either way, I need to tell everyone something before we proceed,” he declared, his look serious, his tone stern. “This bastard is seriously going nuts!” I cursed in my head with a devilish smile. “Maybe he already caught my father’s trick and he is going to expose it all today in front of everyone”. I thought, fear gripping me. Anyways it's none of my business as long as he is canceling this marriage I care less. I said, shaking the crazy thought away from my head. “And what might that be!?” The priest asked again not with a look of curiosity but with a faint smile. “I am not the groom!” he stated firmly with a sarcastic smile. This time he made sure to look in my face and say it loud and clear for me to understand his scheme. “What sort of absurdity is this!?” I found myself screaming out loud. I can't take it anymore, not this crazy bastard acting cool in front of me. “Daniil is away for a business trip!” He will be back today, just that he might be a little late which is the reason why I am representing him here. He said with a calm smile. I knew it wasn't real, this bastard was just trying to hide the sarcasm in his voice, he was mocking me and I knew it. “Who went on a busy trip on their wedding day!?” “Daniil f*****g stop this s**t!” I am running out of patience. I screamed again. To my amusement, he didn't budge nor did he respond but, what remains more of a misery is that nobody is talking. Even my parents looked more composed like it was nothing. “Mrs. Bravona!” I am truly sorry but your groom will be here soon. He replied calmly, still composing that fake smile. “Where the hell is that bastard!” I screamed aloud, my voice rising with indignation. “Am here!” I heard that calm but arrogant voice coming from the door. I immediately turned to the entrance and saw him. There he was, dressed in a black suit. His eyes held no warmth, only calm indifference that sent shivers down my spine. I was mute for a second, My voice got the best of me, I couldn't believe I was the one ranting moments ago. I couldn't even make a sound. He took a slow step forward, and I hissed wanting to look away but he was impossible to ignore. He didn’t smile. He didn’t need to. His presence said it all. I watched him walk towards me till he was standing tall in front of me. The fake groom excused himself and walked away still smiling devilishly. I swear if I were opportune, I would have beaten that crazy smile away from his face. “Crazy bastard!” I cursed internally with gritted teeth. Sorry for being late! “Wife!” Daniil said his voice was barely above a whisper. I turned my neck a bit because of his towering height and large frame. I slowly hissed standing back on my feet without giving a response. I glanced toward my parents and I could see my mother who looked lost moments ago now smiling brightly. And my father now looking down I bet he was ashamed to face me. They gave out their daughters to a bastard who couldn't even make it on the wedding day and they are still proud of it. They are shameless, especially my mom. She has no ounce of shame in her. “A stand-in husband on the wedding day or should I call it a groom switch!?” I smiled faintly, choking on my silly words. He grabbed my hand without notice and I couldn't argue with him. If he says he is the real groom then, so be it. “Who the hell am I to argue!” This is my cruel faith that is dimmed to be accepted no matter what. “Is there anyone here who is not willing for these two to be joined together in holy matrimony? Speak now or forever hold your peace.” The priest asked again with a smile. Nobody raises their hands, Nobody dares to! I squint my eyes a little trying not to show my outrage. “Daniil Varkanin, do you take Camila Bravona as your wife before God and man to forever join together for better or worse till your last days?” The priest asks Daniil, and for a split second, tons of emotions run across his eyes, like he is hesitant. “But, I still don't care, his answers never matter”. He slowly opened his mouth, and words I hated the most escaped his mouth. “I do!”. The priest turned towards me and asked me the same question. “Camila Bravona, do you take Daniil Varkanin as your husband before God and man to forever join together for better or worse till your last days?” “I do!” I blurted out in a swift voice. My words are more hideous than “I hate you!”. I can't wait to walk out of this hall, I am getting tired already. "You may now kiss the bride." The words pierced through my ears. I have forgotten he needs to kiss me, right here at this moment. “I can’t!” In a split second, this bastard’s lips will be on mine sucking it dry. f**k I hissed slowly walking back, I will be the Craziest bride to run away because the groom wants to kiss me. But I can't think of anything at the moment, just to escape and disappear if possible. Just when I was about to take another step backward I felt Daniil’s arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer; before I objected our lips met, sending waves of shock through my entire body.
