CHAPTER 11: HERITAGE

SEMAJ'S P.O.V

I left Butterfly at her room door and went to my daddy's study. I knocked on his door, and my mother answered, telling me to come in. My dad was standing in front of his bookshelf, grabbing an old book. He told me it was high time I learned my mate's and her family's heritage. Handing me the book, he told me to read. I headed back to Butterfly's room and knocked, entering her room and seeing her. I wrapped her in a hug. I told her I'd stay till she slept, and twenty minutes in, she was out like a light. I left her room on my way back to my room. Sitting at my desk, I started to read and lost track of time. The things I read made me want to wrap up my Butterfly and keep her hidden from the world. My wolf became restless, pacing back and forth; when I asked him what was wrong, he said mate needs us. I got up and rushed to the gamma floor, and what I saw spooked me a little.

A pink light illuminated from under her door, and a blue one from Ricky's. Their doors opened, and they floated out into the hallway; their mother was wrapped in a purple light headed our way. I mind-linked my dad and the beta to come and see this because I thought I was losing my mind. When they made it to the floor, Beta Author went to get Luke from his suite. Upon seeing his wife and two kids about to be wrapped in a rainbow of lights, he dashed forward. Luke grabbed Layna and pulled her into his arms; then the lights started to dim, and I rushed to catch my Butterfly from falling. Before he grabbed her, my chest was beginning to tighten. I'd noticed Luke and Oli do the same grab at their chest at the restricting feeling. Layna spoke and said let's meet in the Alpha office at eight, and I'll explain my family's heritage. I took Butterfly back to her room and laid her back in the bed, covering her with her duvet. We fell back to sleep fast, holding each other tight.
