CHAPTER 8: EXPLAIN

LAYNA'S P.O.V

When I noticed the kids were shifting I knew I would have to tell the alpha and Luna my secret. Looking at Luke with fear evident on my face he wrapped his arms around me. Seeing Semaj's wolf I knew at that moment what was happening and fear engulfed my entire being. I whispered to Luke and he nodded in agreeance we would have to tell the alpha and beta family who I am. When the kids shifted back the alpha dismissed everyone and summoned all of us to his office. While everyone was filling into the alpha's office I noticed how Salina was staring at Butterfly and Semaj with so much hate it came off in waves. I approached her and her thoughts were so loud it smacked my wolf with turmoil on how she felt about her sister and I was heartbroken. Mind-linking Luke, I told him her thoughts and wanted to break down and cry because she wanted her sister dead. When we were all in the office and seated the alpha told me and Luke to explain. He told us how he knew all about the royal family and the tragedy that struck us nineteen years ago. I looked at Luke and he nodded for me to start my story.

It was a week away from my seventeenth birthday when my kingdom was attracted by three of the biggest packs in our kingdom. The alpha of the Whitewater pack wanted to align themselves with the kingdom and proposed marriage to his. My parents refused his offer because my father believed in the mate bond. My father then proceeded to tell the alpha the only way that would happen was if they were mates. The son of my mother's beta turned eighteen and got his wolf causing my shift to come. It was a week before my seventeenth birthday when my wolf Lola arrived. She is an elemental and purple my mate's wolf was white with purple on the tip of his ears, paws, and tail. Our wolves bonded instantly much like Raina and Semaj's wolves. Raina spoke and said but I don't feel the mate bond what does that mean? I then explained you won't feel it until you turn eighteen and he turns nineteen, but your wolves have already started the bonding process. In a year both your powers will grow until the mating process is completed. I then continued with my story; my mate and I only had two days to bond when my kingdom went under full-fledged attack. The Whitewater Pack, Crimson Pack, and Blue Lake Pack attacked us with everything they had. My mate and I were on a walk in the woods near the edge of the kingdom when the alarm sounded. We started to run back when we were surrounded by wolves. We fought off ten wolves when more showed up and Randal told me to run and save myself, so I did, I ran. While I was running I felt the bond snap and I knew Randal was no more. A few hours later, I ran into Luke at your pack border when my wolf spoke one word before fainting, "mate".

LUKES P.O.V

When I saw Layna for the first time I was on border patrol and my wolf smelled her coming strangely enough smelled like pineapples and honeysuckle. My wolf was yelling Mate is coming repeatedly and that's when I saw her she was beautiful a lavender purple wolf. She stopped in front of me and the strangest thing happened her wolf spoke the word mate then fainted. She shifted back after fainting and the most beautiful woman was laid down in front of me. She had white milky skin, long black raven hair, and legs that went on for miles I found a shirt in a nearby tree and put it on her before the other guards showed up. I took her to the packed hospital and that's when I knew something was wrong I didn't want to say anything until I spoke to her. She was suffering from dehydration and exhaustion and that's when I told you alpha she was my mate. Layna woke up two days later and the doctor notified us when we got there she wasn't talking and when she spoke in my head. She told me she wouldn't speak to anyone but me over mind link which should have been impossible because she was from a different pack. At that point, I knew I had a special person and had to protect her at all costs. She told me she could hear my wolf say mate out at the border and I was gobsmacked at her revelation. She began to tell me everything that happened back in her kingdom and she doesn't believe anyone is alive. That's when I came up with the story that she was from the Gravewater Pack because of the attacks and she escaped. We had a fear that Salina was going to shift around her seventeenth birthday when she didn't we were relieved. Salina huffed and rolled her eyes when Luna asked her what was the problem. She looked at us with so much venom and hate that Layna gasped covered her mouth and began to cry. Everyone looked at her in confusion when she mind-linked me and said, she wished me dead for her misfortune. I jumped to my feet telling the kids to leave it was getting late and that was all the information for tonight. When they started filling out the office I told Salina to stay and she sat back down. The alpha and Luna asked what was happening when I told them about Layna's gift to read thoughts and Salina visibly pails in her seat. Turning to my daughter I asked her why and began to sob and cry. She said I hate them is not fair I got stuck with a weak wolf and those brats get all the powers. My stupid slut of a sister not only gets a powerful wolf but she gets my mate as well. I'm going to kill them all if it's the last thing I do. Sending audible gasps around the room. Layna then said it's no one's fault you didn't wait for your mate maybe you wouldn't have to scheme. At that moment Layna started to grab at her neck and passed out. The alpha told Beta Arthur to take her to the cells and chain her with silver.
