Falling Apart

One thing that is noticeable in Rhea is her relationship with Ranveer. It has improved a lot since their first interaction, and it will not be wrong to say that both parties have developed romantic feelings for each other. Ranveer is smart, heroic, athletic, hardworking, and good looking. Rhea is intelligent, tough, strong, independent and beautiful. They make a great couple. However, they have not made anything official, but they know that their meetups are not actually meetups rather they are dates. Rajveer and Simon also know about this as the four people spend a lot of time together. Simon has set aside her feelings for Rhea after seeing a genuine smile on her best friend’s face. However, she is not as close a friend with her as Rajveer. Things have started to settle down between all of them. As always, many people look up to them and many feel jealous. Now, what led to this change?

One day Ranveer went to the outdoor basketball court in which he used to practice it. It was ten at night and when he reached the court, he saw a figure already playing basketball there. The person was wearing a hoodie with the back towards Ranveer. Usually, there was no one in that court at that time. However, that day someone was playing in his position and in his court, at his time. He looked at that guy playing the basketball and noticed that the person was proficient in it. He went over with a smile on his face and as soon as he reached the person’s back, he extended his hand: “Hi! I am Ranveer. You are a fine player.” The person turned around, removed the cap from the head and said: “Hello! I am Rhea and I am the best player.” Ranveer was stunned. Ranveer was the kind of guy who liked challenges and Rhea was putting that for him. Ranveer asked: “How can I know?” Thea challenged: “Want to have a game?” Ranveer smirked in a mocking way and said: “Sure, only if you are ready to lose.” Rhea: “Rhea never loses, and the challenge is accepted.” Ranveer threw the ball in the air and the game began. They played for a long time when Ranveer made his winning basket. He looked at her with a smile of victory when he made the final throw. Rhea huffs and Ranveer says: “Do you want to cry?” However, to his surprise she came forward and extended her hand: “Congratulations. It was a great game, and you are a great player indeed.” Ranveer was shocked as he said: “What do you mean?” Rhea said with the same pride in her tone: “There is something known as the sportsman spirit. I am not like you.” Ranveer shook hands with her and said: “I appreciate that.” From that day onwards, they started playing and practicing basketball together. Things started to change as they decided to open up to each other. Rhea told him that she di8d not have any friends there so Ranveer decided to spend more time with her to help her with the transition and gradually things became better between the three as she entered their small circle through Ranveer, and Rajveer did not have a problem with that while Simon put down her guards for her two favourite people.

After some time, things became difficult for Simon. Rajveer got busy with academics as well as job while Ranveer used to spend more time with his new friend. she wanted to complain but when she would see his bright smile, she would not say anything. Things became peaceful as a result of Simon’s silence. was playing basketball in an open court and Simon happened to play it too. However, the silence turned into screams one day.

It has been two weeks since Simon and Rajveer got to know about the gender. For the same period, Rajveer is trying to act sober and not get involved in any bizarre activity since he wants to be a perfect dad for her daughter. He was always protective of Simon but from last two weeks he has become obsessed with her. He has quit the job and has asked his father to join his business as a regular employee. Hence, he is able to spend more time with his wife as his father offered him work from home opportunity and he availed that chance. Today, Simon is alone in her home as Rajveer is out for some work-related tasks and Ranveer has not returned home yet. Rhea is looking after her since not much time is left. She did ask the boys not to bother Rhea, but they persisted as in that way they would be more carefree. Simon and Rhea are on the first floor of the house as Simon insisted on going to terrace as she was not feeling downstairs. Rhea helped her in that. They start talking about different things and the topic eventually is changed to Rajveer. Simon talks about him with a lot of love and proud. She also talks about his emotions for her and how they got married and his reaction to pregnancy. Simon is a bit reluctant, but Rhea insists her. After some time, Simon says: “I think I need to go to bed now. Can you help me?”

Rhea: “Yes, I will take you downstairs as you need to rest now. It was a long journey and a busy day.” Simon smiles and they two moves towards the stairs when Rhea pushes Simon down the stairs. While she is falling, she looks at Rhea in confusion. Rhea responds to her reaction by shouting: “I told you on the very first day that Rhea never loses, and she gets what she likes. It was all a plot to get close to Rajveer and to get you away from our path. There is still time in their arrival and by the time the reach everything will have ended. It is not a surprise for pregnant ladies to lose their balance and fall.” She is still shouting while Simon lands on the floor and a pool of blood form around her. Rhea comes running down, checks her draining pulse and leaves. Before leaving the door, she says: “Good Riddance bit*h.” Simon is lying unconscious on the floor with her one hand on her swollen tummy. After nearly fifteen or twenty minutes, Rajveer enters the house. He calls out her name but receives no response. When he comes near the stairs, he sees his life lying lifeless on the floor covered in blood. His heart sinks and a loud scream escapes his lips that even caused the sky to shake. Everything has changed today. Their lives have completely changed today, and they will never be able to look at each other in the same. The fine and golden line connecting the trio is losing her breath. Rajveer sits down and puts her head on his lap and says: “You will be fine. I promise you will be fine. I can’t lose you Simon. Please keep breathing. Please do not leave me alone. I can’t live without you.” Simon’s name comes out of his mouth like a scream. He then puts her back down and says: “You stay here, please hang on and I will be back in no time.” He rushes in the home like a lunatic and calls the ambulance, but he does not have the time to wait. He takes off his shirt and wraps it around her head to control the constant flow of blood. He then lifts her lifeless body in his arms and rushes to his car. He puts he in the back seat and drives as fast as he can with his one arm on her to prevent her from falling. No one ever thought they would have to face this. No one ever thought they would see the lives of the happiest couple they know falling apart like a house of cards. As soon as he reaches the hospital, he shouts out loud and people come out with a stretcher. They put her on it with extreme care, put an oxygen mask on her face and rush her to the theater. He hears the muffled sound of people saying: “It is an emergency. A pregnant lady met an accident and has lost a lot of blood. Her pulse is dropping. Run, run, run.” He runs beside her until her figure disappears behind the doors. At that moment Rajveer feels as if his soul has left his body and he fall on the ground with his palms on his face as he cries like a baby. His sobs fill the entire corridor as he sees his life falling apart in front of him. in between those sobs, he calls Ranveer. He picks up the call and hears nothing but Rajveer’s sobs. Ranveer on the other side gets tensed as he repeatedly asks: “Rajveer my heart is sinking. Please tell me what happened?” However, he does not hear anything in response but cries. He tries again: “Rajveer, did something happen to your parents?” Again, he hears nothing and then he shouts: “say something dammit. My heart is sinking. I can’t take it anymore.”

In between sobs, he hears Rajveer saying: “She is dying. I can’t lose her. Ranveer, we can’t lose her. We can’t lose Simon. This is not happening.” His voice is breaking as he says all the things in a row.

Ranveer’s voice sounds concerned and weak as he asks: “Where are you? I will be there in no time, and we will never lose her. I promise I will not let anything happen to her.”

Rajveer: “I am in Citi hospital. Please come as early as possible.”
