Could this day get any worse? Seriously, WTF? Sage flopped on the bed of our room, glaring at her destroyed phone.
"I get why she destroyed the phones, but seriously, this sucks. Our parents we have known all our life we're murdered by our biological psycho dad, who wants us to drain our powers. Which we dont even have, because the woman who gave birth to us bound them and dumped us on a stranger's porch. WTF!?!" she starts to rant the thoughts that were echoing in my head.
I walked over and hugged her just as a knock sounded on our door. I opened it to find Jenna.
She entered the room, looking around. "You guys seem a little calmer." She says.
"Calmer might be a stretch. Pissed, Freaked Out, Hurt might be more accurate." I grumbled while flopping next to Sage.
Sage sat up and looked at Jenna. "OK. Start from the beginning. Explain to us why you chose to dump us off on someone else and then come in like a flaming bat outta hell, burning down our home and plopping us in this God forsaken town, away from our school and friends, basically our whole lives."
Jenna took a deep breath, obviously not used to teenage tones.
With a sigh, she began her story.
"I was born to an elite coven. We were the strongest coven in the land. My father worked with the coven as a healer. He ruled us alongside my mother, who was the high priestess. They had three daughters, I was the oldest, and spent my life studying and training to lead after they stepped down. My younger sister was a beauty in looks, but was conviving and underhanded. She refused to study or learn our ways and spent her time chasing boys in the village near us. There, she met an alpha, he was brash, with a hot temper and bad boy looks to boot. She hung out with him a couple of times and introduced him to the coven and family. His name was Garrick. He immediately started to pick at me, trying to gain my attention positive or negative it didn't matter. I refused him that, though. I ignored all his advances, so one night, he snuck in with his pack of mongrels and snatched me from my bed. Garrick made me watch as he r***d my mother and our youngest sister before slitting their throats. My father was no fight and had already been killed by that point. It wasn't until right before he snapped my younger sister's neck that he kissed her and thanked her for sneaking him through our wards. I was struck so hard I blacked out and woke up later in a cell. I was bound with iron chains and had been given some sort of drug that dampened my magic.
Garrick held me captive, marking me as his mate to bind me to him so I would eventually get pregnant with his heirs. I remained in the cage as he already had a proper Luna. Both her and I shared the pains of betrayal while he mated with the other. It was his sick game. He hated all women, but he needed her for the title and wanted me for the power. He planned to wait til I gave birth and have a dark witch drain my powers along with those of his heirs. He didn't need future alpha heirs. he wanted your magic instead. Selene, the Goddess of the moon, came to me in a dream telling me of my pregnancy with you girls and how to break out and hide until you were born. She also visited the pack Luna explaining how to help me get out so she wouldn't suffer the betrayal pains and would be able to keep an heir of her own. She drugged Garrick and gave me an anecdote for the magic dampening drug so I could escape unnoticed. I found Olive and Tom after I set up a hut on my coven's lands, then I had you guys and left you with the humans to keep you safe. I knew there you would have a good life. I'm not sure how he found out you guys were there, considering it's been 17 years since I ran. I always stop there on your birthday to lay flowers for you guys or a crystal, trinkets of witches. when I stopped today, I found Olive already dead, Tom was bellowing in pain, I saw Garrick's beta beating him trying to find you girls. Tom swore he didn't know what they were talking about. Garrick hacked off his head and stormed off, telling everyone to search the towns and neighboring farms. You girls showed up just after they dispersed."
I sat there in shock. The story was unbelievable, but I, for some reason, believed it, and by the look in Sage's eyes, so did she.
