Chapter 13 "What are you going to do now? I know Derrick won't let us be together, and I am not going to lose you to him again. Not in this lifetime." Grey said holding her hands like she was going to run away. He didn't hear any response from her. He looked at her and saw that she was asleep. Grey sat up and went to take a shower. He came back and stared at the beauty before him. He was ready to give up anything and everything to be with her, but not the Alpha throne. He had worked so hard to let anything or anyone get in his way. He went to lay beside her and rested her head on his chest before he drifted into a long sleep. The chirping sound of the bird woke Annie up. She rubbed her eyes and looked at the time. "Oh my God! She exclaimed." Derrick was going to come looking for her. "Get up!." Annie shouted, hitting Grey. " Ouch! Can you be more gentle? I want you to stay for a little bit." Grey pleaded, but the sudden knock on the door shifted their attention. " Hide!" Grey shouted at Annie as he walked towards the door. He opened the door and was surprised by Helena. "What are you doing here? I asked you to leave, didn't I?" Grey shouted in anger. "Can I come in?" We need to talk." Helena said, gently trying to push her way in. " Talk? Talk about what? I have nothing to talk about, so you had better leave when I am asking nicely." Grey looked at her feeling uncomfortable "Is there someone in the room with you?" Helena asked, staring at his face. "Why is that your business? I can be with anyone I want." Grey replied, walking inside. He looked at the bed and noticed Annie wasn't on it. He felt anxious and went to the shelf to pour himself a drink. "Do you mind?" Grey asked "No, I am not in the position to drink," Helena replied. "Not in the position? What are you not telling me?" Grey asked, staring at her as he sipped his drink. "I am pregnant." Helena spoke, looking at Grey's reaction. He looked at her and smiled. "Pregnant? For me?" He asked as he dropped his glass cup on the table before him. "How do I know that it is mine?"He asked, looking at her. Helena got up in anger. "Really? I know you are angry at me, but I can't believe you are saying this to my face. Have you ever seen me with any other man other than you, Grey?" Helena blurted it out in anger. Grey scrubbed his head as he looked towards the bathroom. He knew Annie would have heard what she said. "So, what do you want me to do?" "Let's get married," Helena added to the tension yet again. "You think I am ready to get married? I have a lot of things to do. Important things, and marriage is not one of them. I need to claim the throne, and until I do that, I am not getting married, and with that pregnancy, you had better find a way around it." Grey voiced out in anger. "What do you mean by finding a way around it? Are you telling me to get rid of it?" Helena shouted in anger. Grey looked at her. "I will get back to you. Just stay in the kingdom for now." He said that and walked her out of the room. Annie came out of the bathroom and grabbed her clothes. "Where are you going?" Grey held her hands, seeing that she was angry. "What do you mean by where am I going? "Isn't it my room, and Derrick would be worried and have the guards looking for me by now?" Annie replied "Can I at least explain what just happened?" Grey said it with a sullen face. "What is there to explain? I was foolish enough to think you could pick me over her. She is someone you love, and I am sure you love her more than you love me." Annie said it with anger and didn't look at him. "Can you let me explain? I don't know about the pregnancy, and there is a mix-up somewhere." "Mix up? You can do better than that, Grey. You have been sleeping with her for how long now?" She asked, looking at his face. Grey rubbed his hands over his hair as he looked at Annie. He didn't want to lose her to Derrick, but the situation at hand was something he didn't have control over. He slowly released his grip on Annie and watched as she walked out of his chamber. "f**k!." Grey shouted, smashing the bottle of alcohol in front of him. He remembered the memories he had created with Annie. "I won't let Helena destroy what I have been dying to have for a very long time." He murmured to himself. Annie wakes up in her room as she tries to escape being seen by the palace maid. She walked into their room and shut the door behind her. Tears found their way into her eyes as she began to sob gently. "How can I be so stupid to have thought he loved me?" She said she was gently falling to the bed in front of her. She walked up and went to take a warm bath. She looked at her stained clothes and quickly hid them away. Walking out of the bathroom she heard a knock at the door. "Go away! I don't want to see you." Annie shouted in anger. "Wha, so you mean you don't want to see me?" Derrick's voice came from the other side of the door. Annie froze, her heart racing with anxiety. She quickly wiped away her tears and composed herself before opening the door. She greeted Derrick, attempting to appear calm despite the turmoil within her. Annie, where were you? Concern was evident in Derrick's voice as he entered the room, his gaze searching her face for signs of distress. He had come to her room, as this was the second time he was going to come. "I just wanted to be by myself for a while," Annie responded, her voice shaking a bit while she looked away from him. Derrick looked worried as his brows knitted together. "Is everything okay?" "Are you feeling upset?" he asked softly, with his voice becoming more gentle as he touched her cheek gently. Annie looked at him and didn't know what to believe anymore. She trusted Grey and got hurt. She knew he would never choose Helena over her. Even though they were mated, Grey had pushed her away at the thought that she was a maid. Annie got lost for a bit. "Didn't he know I was having Sheila's face, or did he pretend not to care?" She was lost in her thoughts when Derrick held her hands. Annie reacted sharply to his touch, the recollection of Grey's gentle touch still vivid in her memory. She maintained that she was okay, managing to put a slight smile on her face. Derrick observed her briefly, his face showing signs of concern. "Annie, you're aware that you can discuss anything with me, correct? I'm here for you no matter what is troubling you." Annie could see he was being truthful but decided not to believe in him. Not long ago, he was about to have her sent out of the pack. "I am here if you need to talk, though. I will have some of my men stationed outside your door. Feel free to call on them when you need anything." He said gently, winging towards the door. "And remember, you belong to me, and I don't even think I would allow you to be with Grey for a second. If you are having any thoughts of being with him, erase them. Derrick said it coldly and walked out of the room. Annie couldn't get rid herself of the doubt as Derrick departed, leaving her alone in the room. She recognized the necessity of addressing Grey about their past actions together, but the idea of seeing him again evoked equal parts fear and desire within her. She still remembers his every touch that was nice and how they made sweet love. She couldn't dare see him again without falling in love with him once more. Annie sat heavily on the bed, her mind filled with thoughts of the complex mix of emotions and secrets that surrounded her. She realized that any choice she made would impact not only herself but also everyone she loved. He her phone rings, drawing her thoughts away from Grey.
