Chapter -06

Piya was getting ready in a red saree when suddenly the room door opened. Kabir entered the room. Piya was sitting in front of the mirror, drying her wet hair with a towel. Kabir paused for a moment, just watching her. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the color red suited her perfectly... she looked stunning. Kabir quickly averted his eyes and went to sit on the sofa in the room. Piya, still unaware of his gaze, was busy untangling her hair. Suddenly, something came over Kabir.. he stood up and walked toward her. The next moment, he grabbed her by the neck and pinned her between himself and the wall. Startled, Piya widened her eyes and looked at Kabir in shock. Leaning in close to her left ear, he said coldly, "What do you think? That doing all this will make me yours? I belong only to Noor.... she is my one and only wife!" "You will never be my wife! Understood?" Saying this, he let her go and walked into the bathroom. Actually here, the sight of Piya's slim waist peeking out from her saree had unsettled Kabir. He felt she was intentionally trying to attract him, and it angered him. Left alone, Piya slowly sank to the floor, leaning against the wall. She took a deep breath, still trembling from Kabir’s words. She whispered to herself, "Kabir already has a wife?" She felt as if the ground had slipped from under her feet. "If that’s true, then why didn’t Sir (Nawab Sahib) tell me anything?" Tears streamed from her eyes. She was now truly afraid of Kabir and was beginning to regret what she had done with her life. Just then, Kabir stepped out of the bathroom. Piya gathered courage and asked, "Are you already married? I mean… before our marriage?" Kabir smirked mockingly and said, "Oh… don’t tell me you didn’t know!" "If you really didn’t, then go and ask Abba!" And with that, he stormed out of the room. Piya sat there quietly, stunned. Here, Kabir marched into the living room, fuming. He looked at his father and asked angrily, "Abba, why didn’t you tell that girl about Noor?" Nawab Sahib replied calmly, "I was about to." Kabir scoffed, "Really? You were going to tell her?" Nawab Sahib saw Kabir flaring up, so he motioned for him to sit and said gently, "Sit down and listen to me carefully, Kabir! Piya is a very good girl… never break her heart!" "Or I swear, I’ll break your face!" Kabir, sitting down, said bitterly, "Abba, you don’t know her. She’s greedy! she can do anything for money and fame!" Nawab Sahib’s tone sharpened, "Enough! You know nothing about her!" "I pray that every home is blessed with a daughter like Piya!" "You’ve completely misunderstood her. Do you even know why she married you?" "To save her father’s life!" "She had no money. I put a condition in front of her... if she married you, I’d pay for her father’s treatment." Kabir was left speechless. Nawab Sahib continued, "So tell me ... what kind of girl is she? I've seen the world, son, and I know how to judge people." "She is honest and trustworthy." "Kabir, that girl has endured a lot. Her uncle and aunt treated her terribly… please, don’t do anything wrong to her." Kabir remained quiet for a while and then asked irritably, "Abba, do you really think you did the right thing by marrying me to her?" Nawab Sahib replied without hesitation, "Yes. Absolutely!" Kabir snapped, "No! Not at all! How am I supposed to face Noor now? Why did you tie me to that girl?" Nawab Sahib raised his voice now, "Because I can’t wait any longer! I need an heir for this family! Which Noor can never give me now!" Kabir looked shocked, "But Abba, everything that happened… it’s because of me! How is it Noor’s fault?" Nawab Sahib turned his face away and said sternly, "I don’t care! All I know is.. I want a grandchild!" Kabir, now thinking deeply, said, "But Abba, don’t you think she’s too young for all this? She’s probably not even twenty yet!" Nawab Sahib replied calmly, "Let me be clear she’s 22 years old, and her name is Piya!" "And in love, age doesn’t matter! There was a 9-year age difference between your Ammi and me!" Kabir argued, "But Abba, I don’t love her!" Nawab Sahib smiled slightly, "Really? Then you love Noor?" Kabir hesitated, "Y-yes…" Nawab Sahib gave him a knowing smile, "First, learn what love truly is. You don’t love Noor, she’s just your best friend…" Kabir fell completely silent after hearing his father’s words. To be continued ✍️ ✍️
