On Monday,
Piya underwent religious conversion and got married to Kabir in a very quiet and private ceremony attended by only a few people.
From Kabir's side, his father, his personal assistant Farhan, and his driver were present. On Piya's side, her uncle and aunt attended.
After the ceremony, Piya’s uncle smiled slyly and said to Nawab Sahib, “Well, just as you had said the wedding should take place secretly, without anyone finding out — and look, it’s done! Now fulfill your promise and give me my reward so I can be free.”
Even after hearing this, Nawab Sahib remained silent, prompting Piya’s uncle to look uneasy and say, “Did you forget what you promised before the wedding? That you'd pay me a good amount to keep this marriage a secret… So now, pay me what you owe!”
Nawab Sahib smiled, seeing the greed in Piya’s uncle’s eyes... the man was asking for money for simply agreeing to his niece’s marriage.
The truth was, just the day before, Nawab Sahib had visited Piya’s house to discuss the wedding. Piya didn’t want him to mention anything about it to her uncle and aunt... because she hadn’t told them anything, nor did she want to. After all, who were they to her?
They had never given her anything but pain. Their only son had already squandered all their money through his reckless ways, and now they lived off Piya’s earnings. Her aunt made her do all the housework after she returned from her job.
But Nawab Sahib, unaware of their reality, was sweet-talked by them and ended up telling them everything... that he wanted Piya to be his daughter-in-law and, for now, wanted to keep the marriage a secret.
Realizing Nawab Sahib was no ordinary man but a renowned businessman from Bhopal, her uncle and aunt revealed their true colors and asked, “What do we get out of this? Why should we allow Piya’s wedding to happen this way?”
Hearing this, Nawab Sahib offered them money and they agreed immediately.
It was then that Nawab Sahib realized their greed. But he had to ensure Kabir and Piya’s marriage took place at any cost, so he agreed to give them whatever they asked.
Now, seeing Piya’s uncle smiling in front of him, Nawab Sahib replied, “Yes, of course I remember.”
Then, he gestured to his P.A., Farhan, who handed over a bag filled with money to Piya’s uncle.
After everyone was dismissed, it was time for Piya’s rukhsati (farewell), and Nawab Sahib took both Kabir and Piya to a newly purchased apartment just two days ago.
On Nawab Sahib’s instruction, Piya entered one of the rooms in the apartment and as soon as she stepped in, she was shocked and nervous.
Because of her veil, she couldn’t see clearly, but still, she could tell the room was beautifully decorated. Candles were glowing all around, the air filled with the scent of fresh red roses. The bed was covered in rose petals with a heart-shaped design in the center.
Seeing all this, Piya felt even more uneasy. Her mind began racing with thoughts.
"What was the need for all this? We don’t even know each other yet!" she thought.
Her heart had already been pounding since the time of the nikah, and now seeing the room, she was even more frightened wondering how she could give herself to a stranger.
But she had no other choice now. She had to save her father, no matter what.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she sat quietly on the center of the bed.
She drifted into her thoughts again, but suddenly the sound of someone entering the room pulled her back to reality.
And in the next moment, he was in front of her.
Through her veil, she saw her husband Kabir sitting silently on the couch just opposite the bed.
She remained quiet, waiting for him to say something. But he just stared at her coldly, almost angrily.
Feeling his piercing gaze, Piya tightened her grip on her veil... she was afraid of the man now sitting in front of her.
Suddenly, he stood up and walked towards her. Without a word, he pulled off her veil in one swift motion.
Terrified, Piya flinched and shut her eyes tightly.
Then, he bent down, grabbed her chin, and forced her to look into his eyes.
Tears filled her eyes as she met his cold, black stare.
Through gritted teeth, Kabir said with a sarcastic smirk, “Miss... oops, sorry! it’s Mrs. Piya Kabir Khan now, hmm? You must be happy, right? ...My name is now attached to yours. That’s what you wanted, right? Money, fame, status?”
Piya looked at him, confused and scared.
Then Kabir tightened his grip on her jaw and said,
“I will make your life worse than hell...you just wait and watch!"
"Welcome to hell, wifey.”
With those words, he leaned in and suddenly kissed her harshly. He bit her lower lip so roughly that it started bleeding.
It was the first time she had ever been touched by a man and it was nothing but pain.
She gasped and almost screamed in agony.
But Kabir didn’t care. Instead, he laughed cruelly and said, “What happened, jaan? Isn’t this what you wanted? You married me for money — and this is just a kiss. There’s a lot more to come.”
Piya couldn’t hold herself back anymore she burst into tears. Hearing her sobe, Kabir stopped.
He gave her a final cold look and walked into the washroom.
His words had shattered her soul.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she looked at her hands covered in mehndi the name “Kabir” written in the center.
Crying, she whispered to herself, "God, did you forget to write happiness in my fate?"
