Althea's Pov The office resembles a crime scene. HR has delivered sixty-five envelopes, and now everyone is acutely aware of their situation. The ambiguity from yesterday's town hall has been swapped for something more severe—the harsh truth of who will remain and who will depart. As I attempt to concentrate on Eros's schedule, Jennifer from guest services shows up at my desk. Her eyes are puffy, yet she maintains her composure with a strained demeanor. "Althea," she whispers softly, checking to ensure no one is eavesdropping. "I just wanted to express... I'm relieved you're safe." The term stings. Safe. As if we all emerged unscathed from some catastrophic event rather than a corporate choice. "Jennifer, I truly apologize-" "It's alright," she interrupts me with a trembling smile. "
