My phone rings, and a strange number comes on. I never changed my line since the last time, and maybe I should have just changed it to a new one.
I pick up the phone, and we stare at each other with Dave. The only thing separating us is the distance and the snow that is falling.
“A good friend of mine told me some good news. You are having our baby,”
My body feels repulsed by this statement. I might puke from his words.
“I know that friend is John.” I hiss through gritted teeth.
“I first heard it from Gwen. I couldn’t believe the good news, then I had to ask John, and he told me what I wanted to hear. I finally believed the news. I am so... happy that you can get pregnant. Finally, you will be able to give me what I have always wanted.”
